Happy Easter
Happy Easter to from me !!! Got eat a egg ive got pred munchies so think im going get one !!!yum
Happy Easter!! I've already eaten so many easter eggs that I can't wait until they've disappeared from the shops so I can't be tempted into buying them!!
I've eaten bags and bags of the little choc eggs, they make me feel a bit sick but I cant stop.. no will power at all. Hope everyone has a nice weekend and costa free. xx
Happy Easter to all. I haven't given into the eggs yet, but they're all lined up waiting for me to have a weak moment ..........
aww no god iv broken my promise for lent. i couldnt help it and iv done so well anyone else give anything else up?
I gave up crisps and ice cream for lent. I'm very proud to say I'll be succeeding considering there is only 1 more day to go. This is a big deal for me considering how little will power I have, although if I'd really wanted to challenge myself I should have given up chocolate!! Now that would have been interesting lol
Glitterdust, Lent ends on Good Friday ie today. So knock yourself out - you made it!
The last day of Lent is Easter Saturday as the end of Lent celebrates the rising of Christ.
Sorry, but you have made ot this far, just one more day xxx
Hmm, there seems to be some confusion over this! In the C of E growing up I always understood it was Good Friday as you can eat hot cross buns after the 3-hour service (confession: have eaten them in Lent ;)). Also have seen things (not counted myself) saying it ends midnight Maundy Thursday/Good Friday.
Is this a denominational thing? Now I've looked further, apparently it depends on whether you count Sundays and when you start counting from - so can depend. (edit: have seen things saying both Friday/Sunday or Thursday/Saturday for Catholics! Now am well confused...)
Happy easter. An array of eggs arrived today and so far I have resisted. Not sure i will make it to easter sunday tho. Besides they may melt!! Keep well.chell.xx
When does lent finish? Yes a confusing thing but i would say Easter day as we celebrate the Risen Lord. Some say Palm Sunday as that is when Jesus came out of the desert but the mood changes on Palm Sunday from joy to the anticipation of Jesus passion in Holy Week. So therefore we should continue what we have given up in Lent, till we celebrate on Easter Sunday. Yes they say Sunday's are not counted but that's a cop out as I'm sure Jesus didn't have a day off while he was in the desert.
Easter saturday eve we begin our celebration by a service of light we light a new fire and Easter candle. Some church's have fireworks. (I'm at the cathedral tonight for a service where they'll use insence which will be fun!? Inhaler at ready. )
Then tomorrow morning we get up early for Son rise service. Followed by breakfast and celebration services of communion. So may the Risen Christ be with you. Rev Catherine
I'm rather confused over the period of lent too!
I thought it started on Ash Wednesday and finished on Easter Sunday, I'm sure that's what I remember from school.
I read you can have Sundays off, that sounds a little weird as I'm sure Jesus didn't get to have Sundays off in the desert! Then someone told me it ended Palm Sunday, I hadn't heard that some people think it also ends on Good Friday. All I know is Jesus was said to be in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights, but Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday is actually 47 days!
Anyway, as there is only one more day to go, I'm determined to make it until tomorrow (even though I can hear the ice cream calling to me from the freezer!! lol)
It's a lovely day for ice-cream Glitterdust. Particularly a Mr Wippy. With a flake. And strawberry sauce. } I gave up dieting for Lent. I think I may have misunderstood the concept.
Hope everyone has a lovely Easter, and remember, chcocolate's good for asthma!!!
LOL, Ratty I'm with you about the diet! I had a lovely 99 icecream yesterday on the beach with a flake! It was scrummy! : )

Hello Rev. Catherine!
(I am a Catherine too!) I have always been brought up to believe that Lent ends on Easter Day.
My Dad was an Anglican priest................. he used to light the pascal candle from a small BBQ on easter morning & then there was incence too! (Can't stand the stuff now)
I wish more people would remember that Easter is the most important day in the Christian calender rather than Christmas.
Not been to a sunrise service yet.....
Happy Easter to all!

lol to giving up dieting Ratty, I like that! If only we could give up asthma (has someone said this already?)
Yeah no Sundays is a bit of a cop-out but then I didn't give up anything so easy for me to say
I was going for Good Friday because of the hot cross buns after the service - figured they aren't Lenten fare, but then some people fast on Good Friday and it would make more sense for the end to be Easter Sunday. Looking it up hasn't really helped my confusion much (see below)! I don't observe it really these days but was interested as I used to be in a church choir so was always very much involved in Easter services.
