Side effects.

Hi!

Just wondering whether anyone elses child has a developed a hoarse voice when on clenil modulite. My daughter is on 200mcg clenil modulite am and pm and montelukast and has also been having flixonase nasal spray to help with her allergy to dust etc. Since adding the flixonase she has developed a hoarse voice and when it isn't hoarse her voice seems lower than before. I've spoken to our asthma nurse at the hospital who says it is a registered side effect of clenil but I don't know whether it is a permanent one. I know that it is better that her asthma is well controlled but this has me worried! We're seeing our GP to discuss this but haven't been able to get an appointment until the end of the week.

Hi, I got the hoarse voice on clenil. Someone on here suggested using a spacer. Helped a lot.

On seretide now, still get the low or hoarse voice but only if I've been rushing around and either not using spacer or forgetting to rinse my mouth after inhaler puffs.

Maddie had a hoarse voice on Clenil too but it soon went back to normal once her meds changed. My other daughter is on Clenil tho and her voice didn't change.

Hi Caro P, I was just about to post a similar question. My son has changed over to seretide for the past month and for the whole time he has had voice changes and he sounds everso croaky. I'm going to nip and see our asthma nurse to see if we can check inhaler technique as looking at previous discussions I think it might be helpful. Will update you if I learn anything useful.

Thanks for the messages., it really helps to know that it's not just us! Saw our GP today who has suggested changing the nasal spray to see if that makes a difference and if not going back to Consultant to discuss alternative inhalers.

Hi there,

She must use her Clenil Modulite via a spacer anyway which should minimise the risk of a hoarse voice, also she should rinse her mouth out after using it. Maybe do it before she cleans her teeth so the medicine is not left in her mouth. I had the same but the spacer and rinsing my mouth stopped it from happening. Hope this helps.
