MY daughter was diagnosed 4weeks ago after persistent nighttime coughing she has been on salbutamol at night then had first asthma attack on the weekend and was perscribed a steroid inhalor but i had a friend say she does not have asthma becoues she did not cough once over her house when she stayed the night even though she had the asthma attack the day after her sleepover,today my daughter is showing mild cold symptoms and i am a little concerned it is still all new to me when should i see the doctor about her cold she has no fever just sore throat and runny nose and very pale any other parents feeling overwelmed by there child being diagnosed with asthma
Firstly welcome to this site. You've certainly come to the right place for support.
It can feel terrifyingly daunting when your child is diagnosed with asthma. It's normal to feel overwhelmed and scared.
How is your daughter responding to the inhalers? Have they helped?
If you are at all worried, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the dr. Until you feel more confident with the diagnosis (and I have to say I still don't feel comfortable with it) I think you are well within your rights to ask for help and support.
Have you got an asthma nurse at your surgery? Can you make an app with them?
All I can say is gather as much info as possible and don't be afraid to askfor help.

Yes the inhalors are working,she also has an appointment with the asthma nurse on the 27th july I think i will feel happier once she has seen the nurse her school always let me know how many times she uses her ventolin and today was once at lunch which is a huge improvement since she been on the red/brown preventer,she is still pale so i will see how she is in the morning and if still sniffly and pale will call the doc just to put my mind at rest,Thank you for your support atleast now i know im not the only parent with a asthmatic child x x x
Welcome to the site it is brilliant site for support and information. Emily and I are often sending pm's between us so we can check up on how things are with our children it is so nice to have someone who really understands how anxious you feel about your child and that kind of support is invaluable!
My son is 6 years old and at the moment touch wood we are having a good run but we have had our bad times also. I hope your daughter starts to feel better soon.
Hi Jacquie and welcome to the forum. There's quite a few of us on here with asthmatic children so you are not alone. My 14 yr old son has had it since babyhood (me too!) and has been very poorly. Don't take any notice of your friend who said your daughter didnt cough at her house so she couldnt have asthma. I get fed up of people saying similar to me - that son seemed ok when in fact they just dont know the symptoms. His school used to say all the time 'well he LOOKS alright', really got on my nerves. Also my son does try to cover up if he's not feeling well, he wouldnt admit he felt rough (actually, I'm a bit the same!)
Anyway, colds are often a trigger for asthma so if your daughter gets a cold and her asthma seems worse go straight to the doctor. Dont hesitate to keep going back to get her checked out. You dont say what age she is - at least now my son is older he can tell me if he thinks he needs a doctor.

My daughter is 8yrs old,she is finally asleep she always looks so tired and pale but I will definatly let you all know how it goes with the doctor tommorow x
