Zapain and Paracetamol

Hi everyone.

Does anyone take these painkillers together. I have been prescribed Zapain 30/500 . two tablets at night, but in the daytime to take one Zapain and one paracetamol 500.

I understand that Zapain is a generic, has anyone found it inferior to the Co-Codamol.

Both tablets contain exactly the same ingredients -,

Codeine Phosphate. 30mg

Paracetamol..500mg

So you shouldn’t notice any difference.

Everyone reacts differently to a medication, even generic ones, just as everyone's condition(s) and the reasons they're prescribed specific doses differs.

As an example, one 500mg paracetamol off the shelf doesn't touch my pain levels, but it does knock me out for eight hours.

It's not safe or wise for anyone other than your doctor or specialist too advise you on medications to mix, moreso if you end up having a bad reaction too it.

Zapain had no effect on me, and I was taking the same dosage you're on now, I spoke with the doctor who then took me off them and prescribed something stronger so no alternatives would be needed during the day.

As far as I understand it, it is CoCodamol. Quite ok to have one Zap with one Para. That’s often what I do, as cocodamol is constipating.

That will be OK as long as you don't take more than the recommended daily dose of paracetamol in any one 24 hour period. My husband takes both at varying times.

Hi,

Zapain and CoCodomol are one and the same. I take 2 x 30/500 at night to overcome shoulder pain which then enables me to sleep. If Ineed to I take another two at breakfast to help me subdue shoulder pain during the day.

When I had my knee replacement, immediately after surgery back in my room I was fed some sort of morphine fopr pain control. didn't touch it. I asked for my Cocodomol 30/500 and it worked.

I take 2 x Zapain every morning and 2 x paracetamol at night which gets me through most days but if I have a bad pain day I still have enough without going over the recommended daily dosage.
