Well as if a tear in the meniscus isn't enough of a problem , now the blood test for me to have the scan as come back suggesting I have got stage 1 kidney failure , and a DR who thinks it might just be a blip. The mind boggles for those who are taken in by some of the chat from these medics. Apart from unnecessary stress waiting months just for scan results for referral then more months to see a specialist and no suggestion of what I might do to make my leg better on account it might need a surgeons intervention. Thats my bit of sarcasm for the day. Hope others are getting better response from the NHS, now apparently four surgeries in our city are being put out to tender or being closed if no offer is forth coming. Guess I better start looking for a good medical insurance ,thats a joke don't insure people over 70 who have existing conditions. Any suggestions for pain releif other than a whisky or brandy to dull the senses. :) :)

Not good, thank goodness you still have your sense of humour. I went to the doctors as my back thigh and foot pain was getting really bad and walking is a problem after about 20mins. One doctor took me off the Gabapentin medications I've been supplied with for 3 years now had to have a blood test but went back meantime as pain was getting really bad , different doctor he has put me back on the medication said it's all coming from your back. I asked for MRI scan to see what is going on as was told we know what is wrong but your 10 mins is up I'm afraid but we know what is wrong anyway. I just give up!!!

Know the feeling, my painkillers were stopped as they were making me ill but no alternative was offered , not even a support bandage or a crutch which is normal for this type of injury. Just suggested I take more tramadol but they won't increase the amount prescribed. I get so fed up of being treated like an imbecile they say your care should not suffer because you question your treatment but I distinctly feel I am being discriminated against due to past incidences & health history. In respect of the meniscus tear how did it become Kidney failure I ask ???? And why 3months later am I still waiting for confirmation of diagnosis & referral to orthopeadics. It would be quicker just to be referred to a consultant without an MRI.Plus posibly cheaper in the long term for the NHS. More damage is done while waiting in many cases. I was thinking of asking for a wheelchair like yourself its the walking that worsen things including flaring up the gout joint. Not much can be done about it I guess. Who wants to grow older and more crippled.

Yes you are right there's nothing we can do about the way things are going, it's just so sad that when you have worked all your life and look forward to retirement and the things you would have liked to do but didn't have the time, they are still out of bounds as you cannot do them anymore. I guess like me, when you have an occasional good day it feels like Christmas!!

I am sorry to hear this. I would suggest a good scream🙈I find it therapeutic.

When I had trouble with my knee I used knee-pain-explained.com a lot and I am sure it helped. After I had seen five physio therapists and one student, a chiropractor diagnosed a meniscus tear and treated that and a damaged calf muscle. I am OK now provided I keep up the exercises. I need to exercise all the muscles in the legs, which I do in two gym sessions a week.

I sympathise with you because I had times of hopelessness. One NHS physio told me no matter how many exercises I did I would still have a 71 year old knee at the end of it. I am so glad I ignored him and looked for help elsewhere.

Thank you for the ray of hope you made my day, one Gp told me I might have pain for the rest of my life Have to smile as I have two sorts of Arthritis plus a suggested torn meniscus, I am sure these are not all going to get better some time now do you :) :) Keep up the Physio thats the only thing that keeps my shoulders moving at least physio lessens the pain. See Gp for scan results on Friday, probably end up with a result like you its my age. Have a good day its a bit overcast here not good for the moral.
