Hi everyone I have RA which by my blood results indicate is under control but just lately I have had a strange stinging/numbness feeling down both arms and the tops of my hands are soft and spongy, and leave a Pitting mark when pressed,my dr just shrugs his shoulders and says he has no idea what it is and 2 different rheumatologists say different things, one it is arthritis the other it is Edema please can anyone help as it is making my life miserable ☹️ many thanks

Hi..I've had swellings too. Mostly around my left shin, once in my forearm and also on my left hand. Mr Dr says it's collected fluid which is Edema. And it is most probably caused by excess sinovial fluid being produced in arthritic joints. So both your medics are likely correct. My GP has said to leave it for a few weeks to see if it resolves of its own accord. My hand and forearm swellings went down after a few weeks. My shin swelling is still an issue and shrinks at night then reappears by middle of next day. So it's anybodys guess as to how long it will last. I wish you all the best and speedy healing.
