I've been told I need a hip replacement. Can I take ibuprofen tables and use a gel at the same time. Thank you

Hi. If you mean an anti-inflammatory gel with the ibuprofen, then no, as that woukd be doubling the dose. Best to see your GP about taking a stronger anti inflammatory or think about using a Tens machine for pain relief

You'd be well advised to have a chat with your GP/PCP and pharmacist as much will depend on the oral dose that you're considering and the suitability of the gel for the hip (if that's where you're considering its use).

I have frequently done this even though I was taking the maximum dose of ibrophen my Dr knew and the only thing he did was give me some omeprazole to line my stomach
