For the pat week or so I've had very achy ankles , more so my right than my left. It's been a constant aching Oct drugs are not helping I'm also feeling it through the top of that same foot as,well. From the ankle down to my toes. It's making me very uncomfortable . To painful to walk at time s . Also to painful to try to even bend it. It's also staying very red in that area as,well. What should I use to help me get around better. The thought of a cane I really don't like nor do I like the thought of using a walker either. I have all idea this is my arthritis talking to me . Because I haven't done anything to my ankles eat so ever. What should I also 7se for 5he pain? Need some suggestions because I'm all out of ideas unless I do what I don't want to do and that's go to my rheumatologist.

It is worth trying ice and elevation to see whether that help. Make yourself an ice pack if you don't have one - a bag of peas will do - and wrap it in a clean teatowel or cloth, then place it where it feels red and swollen. Put your feet up so that your ankle/s is/are higher than your heart. It may or may not work, but it can be very effective sometimes, so it's worth a try.

Flow4 I have been off my feet since I've been home from work for the last hour. I've had my right foot propped up on one pillow and it seems to make it worse doing that even. The pain actually shoots up from the top of my foot and through my ankle. It's not really swollen just very red in the area where it hurts right now. Not sure on what's going on with it.

Try the ice and see it that helps. :)

It could be something mechanical like a dropped arch or pulled tendon. If it doesn't get better in a week or so, you're probably going to need to see a doctor.

The doctor is what I was trying to avoiding as much as I could. But like I said in my post I have all idea that it's probably arthritis related. My osteoarthritis seems to be agressive this year. My joints have been pretty achy as well. I just can't get comfortable anywhere anymore. I have to stand up alot with work as,well and I'm on asphalt all day everyday witch makes even worse.

Yes I know, JDQ. But as I said on a previous post of yours, it does sound like there could be something else going on - maybe rheumatoid arthritis rather than osteo. If that is the case, the treatment is entirely different, and you need a doctor to diagnose.

My own diagnosis has just changed from OA + fibro to OA + RA + possible fibro. My treatment has changed completely - I am on new drugs - and my pain and swelling are much reduced.

Wow sounds like you have gone through several hoops of diagnosis. I came close to calling my rumy but I didn't call to make an appointment. I'm try to hold off til the first of the year. I also still have the warm sensation on my right leg as,well. So I'm not really sure what is going on. I haven't been to my rumy since August. It seems if it it's one part of me hurting it's another or multiple areas of my body. You know how it goes.

Flow4 I just wanted to let you know that I went on WebMD and put in all the info it asked for and the top two results that came up were Psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis. Those were the top two on the list. Fibromyalgia wasn't listed. So that gives me an idea on what I'm dealing with. Also osteo wasn't listed either witch surprised me . I thought I might be a possibility for my symptoms bit it wasn't.

I think you're going to have to visit that doctor eventually, JDQ!

Flow4 I think I found way I'm having so much discomfort right now on my right foot. Right below my ankle bone on top of my right foot there's a knot that feel pretty large on top of my foot. It's tender and to sore to touch. Could that be arthritis related do you think?

Yes, it could be JDQ. It could either be an osteophyte (bony growth) or inflammation at the tendon point on the top of your foot, which can cause extra lumps of tissue to grow. A steroid shot there may give you some relief...

I went on WebMD the other evening and everything was pointing to RA or psoriasis arthritis never listed anything for osteoarthritis. So it makes me wonder if I'm getting rheumatoid arthritis now.

It's possible. That's what has happened to me: I have had early onset osteoarthritis in several joints for about 5 years, but a couple of years ago, I started developing other symptoms, which were finally diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis a couple of months ago.

The only way to find out is to visit a rheumatologist. There are various blood tests that might confirm it, or it might take some further investigation, like x-rays or ultrasound scans. For me, the diagnosis has been really important, because the rheumy changed my meds, and my pain and swelling have dropped by about 70% too - I am no longer in so much pain, which is great! But it took a while to get there, because diagnosis of RA is not always straightforward, especially if you also have OA.

I'll be calling my rumy on Monday to set me up an app. The symptoms aren't easing up for me. Also arthritis ibuprofen isn't helping me either. The colder temps have finally gotten here where I live in VA. As much as I hate setting foot in a doctors office I don't think I have any choice at this point than to make the appointment.

It's been on going for the last few weeks . I finally went on WebMD last night and it the results that came up were either psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis. Osteo wasn't listed. So I think you might be right with it possibly being RA. Witch doesn't surprise me that runs both on my mom's and dad's side of the family. We'll see I guess.
