Hi all,

We wanted to share details of Bipolar UK’s virtual conference taking place on 30th March, which anyone affected by bipolar is welcome to join and may be of interest to forum members.

The free online conference is taking place on World Bipolar Day, Wednesday 30th March 2022, 6pm - 9pm.

This year's programme will include:

-Kay Redfield-Jamison Interview – world-renowned author of An Unquiet Mind will be interviewed by Bipolar UK ambassador Emma Belle

-Bipolar Commission Update – to include the launch of Bipolar UK’s updated Mood Tracker app

-Charity Update

There will also be five panel discussions to choose from.

The link for more information and to book a place is: eventbrite.co.uk/e/bipolar-...

Best wishes,

Jenny

Wow! Thank you, Jenny. As a very new member, despite being diagnosed as bi polar after my PP nearly 20 years ago, I never knew this sort of conference existed. Or maybe I wasn't ready to find it.

A very warm welcome to the forum :) It looks a really good programme. Bipolar UK have lots of information and resources if you’ve not found them previously and wanted to explore their website - bipolaruk.org/

I have also just been diagnosed with Bipolar type 1, 19 years after PP.I am just trying to make sense of it all and wondered if you have found any link between being menopausal & diagnosis. I am wondering if once hormones settle if the BP will dissapear

Hi Ynes2021,I haven't had any specific BP symptoms since the diagnosis 19 years ago.

But there is evidence of recurrance of mental health problems at menopause.

Hopefully other people have more information.

I hope it settles down soon, in a similar way to PP.

There was an expert on the BP conference talking about the menopause.

Thanks Jenny, hope to attend for some of the time - I don’t suppose you know what time the different talks/discussions are on at? 3 hours is impossible for my concentration and I wonder if there might be some link back to it in the days after the actual date as I would be very interested in following it piecemeal ….thanks again, Patricia

Hi primrose81,

Thank you for your message.

I've checked and the full programme for the conference will be emailed out to attendees tomorrow (Wednesday 23rd) so if you've registered for the event you should receive that with the timings etc. The sessions are being recorded and will be available on the Bipolar UK website a few days after the event.

I hope that helps :)

Best wishes,

Jenny
