Mother and baby unit....still waiting to hear...

My daughter has been in the mental health unit now for a week...and we are still waiting to hear if she can go to a M&BU..she has used thankfully blunt glass on her belly under the pelvic area..then in the week a bobby pin to try and gouge a hold in the sac so the fluid would leak and then the baby would have to be delivered...then last night she managed to scratch her bump rather badly with her nails...she dreamt the baby had gone and got very distressed when she woke and discovered she was still pregnant..there is a meeting tomorrow (Monday) and we find out if they will take her..please keep your fingers and toes crossed for us that she gets in...

Dearest RedRosie,

Praying your daughter gets help ASAP.

Are you in the UK?

Perhaps get in touch with Dr Ian Jones, he provides a 2nd opinion service for women at risk of PP. and obviously this display during Her 3rdpregnancy. Would fall in that category.

Keep loving her throughout this illness,

Hello RedRosie36

I really hope the meeting at the MBU goes well today and your daughter will be able to have the specialist care she needs. Is it the MBU in Poole she is hoping to go to? I think you were given the link to the Second Opinion Service in another post, app-network.org/what-is-pp/.... Prof Jones is very helpful and reassuring and I think can offer Skype calls if necessary after referral from your daughter's GP or Psychiatrist.

I'm sorry your daughter is so poorly and such a worry for you but hope she gets into a very safe place today .... keeping everything crossed. Take care.

Hi Sharon..sh didn't get in, they said its because she is self harming and they dont have any way of keeping her safe as its a more open environment at the M&BU where she could have access to sharp objects..she is devastated but fingers crossed it will motivate her to stop cutting long enough to be able to get the help she desperately needs xx
