Didn’t feel like running 🏃🏽‍♀️ today but glad I did.

Hi all just a quick update to say I’ve raised £200 so far. I’m very tired and today has been a bit of a down day as I have had some negative responses to my fundraising. It seems that not everyone takes mental illness seriously and that has made me feel quite foolish. I’m also reducing my Venlafaxine so that has given me bad headaches again which I hope are short term. I did however still manage to run 🏃🏽‍♀️ and that has picked my mood up somewhat. Thanks all for your support and I will update you again on my progress. Hoping to increase my mileage to three miles a day in the next few days. Also I should soon get some T Shirts so will try and get a few pictures of me and Hattie posted on here.

The link to my Just Giving page is below. Many thanks Beth x

Hello bethanylj

I hope you're having a well earned rest now! You did really well to push yourself past the negative comments. It's a shame that some people don't understand about mental illness. Please don't feel foolish as all the mums here think you're amazing raising awareness and funds for the Charity. It can't be easy reducing your medication and having headaches as a result so please take good care of yourself.

Looking forward to the pictures of you and your daughter together in the APP Tshirts :)

Well done Beth! That’s so disappointing to receive some negative responses to your efforts but you’re certainly not foolish, what you’re doing is amazing. I hope the headaches pass soon and that the running helps xx

Dear Bethanylj,

so proud of your achievement!

I usually try to ignore unreasonable comments as they are not productive for my own well being.

Throughout my life experience I came to the conclusion that whatever I do is in the first instance something I want to do for myself and subsequently for the purpose of the once who are in need/or just have to be cared and nurtured for like our children. I do not need to proof a point, I do not need to compare or compete with others nor do I need to judge.

You have to gain inner strengths in order to be able to give. This is a Buddhist wisdom, because when you meditate love and kindness, the first stage is to focus on your own being and then you pass your energy to others...

You are an amazing inspiration for others, but please stop running when you need a rest :-)

Promise!

Bye for now,

x

Omgsh, running makes me feel so accomplished. I just have to try not to overdo it or I'll be starving the rest of the day.
