Want to get of zopiclone
Hi there Goodeygirl - that is a long time to be on zopiclone, as far as I know. I've only ever heard of it being used in quite a short term way. Is it the one doctor who has been prescribing it? Have you expressed your concerns to them? If they haven't been helpful, or don't understand your wish to come off it and get relief from the side effects, then is there any way you could see a different doctor?
Good luck!
Kat x
Hello kat.. thank you for the reply...I get 10 zops a month also 10 diazepam a month taken when needed due to panic attacks and anxiety...was presribed by pyschiatrist... have had follow up app and still repeat prescription..... would it be the tablets causing this with my jaw... cannot sleep without zopiclone otherwise awake for at least 36 hours.
Hey - gosh that sounds a really difficult situation. I hope the website Ellie links to is helpful. And I would also suggest perhaps asking for a second opinion over what your current prescribing doctor's approach. I personally don't think it's ok to leave someone with such debilitating side effects over such a long time. Perhaps speak to your practice manager? Or your care coordinator if you have one?
Best of luck! Kx
Hi, Welcome to the forum. Sorry you're struggling in this way with what seems to be a horrible side affect. I personally haven't suffered with this.
I agree with Kat that it's important to speak with your doctor / psychiatrist about your symptoms. I thought you may find it helpful to look at this website, you can search different mental health medications and the side affects etc. It is very accurate and you may find some information on there: choiceandmedication.org/ncmh/
Take care

Hello goodeygirl,
how are you today?
Did you have PPP? I was sectioned in the Summer 2010 and in the first instance given medication which did not tackle my Psychosis. I was on quite a mixture of very traditional medication/anti depressants. Once being properly diagnosed after several weeks I was injected.
Luckily I left the mixed Gender Psychiatric hospital and had some very good after care. I believe it is so important to have the right professionals allocated to your needs. In my view point you have been rather a long time on zoplicone. Too long! Your symptoms indicate very strong side effects. I hope you find Ellie's link useful.
Some of the medication can make you addictive, one of the reasons why it was so important to be gradually weaned off in my case. I have had a very good Psychiatrist who slowly reduced my medication. I also had horrendous side effects. I believe a second opinion as mentioned before will help you to find a path to recovery.
I suffer from Agora and Social Phobia, thus have lots of anxiety issues, when around crowds and new environments. I am free from chemicals and use alternative therapies. I really hope you get some good advise...being listened to, - especially starting to support you in reducing the medication, creating a care and support plan.
Thinking of you,
x
