Sertraline withdrawals - please help!

Hi all

I hope some of you can help.

I have been on Sertraline for about five years now, but I am trying to come off of it as I would like to try for a baby in the next year. I was on 150mg, then 100mg, and now my doctor has said to reduce to 50mg. I have been on 50mg for a week and I just feel awful - my emotions are so heightened, my anxiety and OCD have been unbearable and I have been getting the standard head/heart spasms. Please can anyone tell me whether this will pass, or whether I'm just not ready to come off yet?

You are tapering them off after 5 years obviously you will react to the withdrawal effect such as brain zaps etc.

If and only if your symptoms are not diminishing the I recommend ask your dr to switch to another anti depressant or not even an anti represent something safer to take while trying to conceive or prior.

I took valdoxan it is atypical anti depressant for 14 days it only impacts the melatonin effect of the brain therefore it did not impact serotonin but it elevates liver enzymes so I stopped and never experienced withdrawals people use it for sleeping purposes.

Or maybe you could try TMS which is another drug free alternative if you do not want to take drugs.

Remember it is your body your mind and talk to your dr about these options

I would suggest that you slow down even more on the coming off programme, and if you can, concentrate on that, because reading between the lines I wonder whether you are actually increasing your anxiety by your plan to try for a baby just yet. I would hope that you can get yourself calmer and more in control first before you try. All the best.
