How many people here have had a positive experience with mental healthcare and hospitalization without trying a dozen failed services?

A genuine question. I really am curious how lucky most people are.

I've never been hospitalized

I was assigned to my therapists and psychiatrist. I've been with them for years. I have been blessed. There has never been a problem

I know how lucky I am

Hi MiamiJacket84, I have had a number of therapists as well as psychiatrists who I've seen over the years. Retirement, sickness might have taken them away from me but I always continued on looking for answers to help myself. Not delusional but a strong belief that I could and would find the answer in getting well. There were no answers with the general public of friends and family and so I took what was best from the professionals and discarded the rest.

I guess you could say that I made the best of what I was given.. I was hospitalized by my choice to have the time to work on myself. No visitors, no phone calls it was going to be my "me time". With help all around me 24/7, and a great psychiatrist, I was able to find a solution to my anxiety. Of course Dr. Claire Weeks theory on Acceptance played a big part in my regaining my mental health.

So MiamiJacket84, you might say that I was blessed but more than that I believe that I took over the power of my mind and gained some introspection in what I wanted and where I was going in life. And here I am, many years later, extending my hand in helping others find their way as well. Wishing you success. :) xx
