Hello Meg, welcome to the group. One of the things to consider is to make sure your hormones, thyroid and adrenals are functioning properly, if not, they can cause or contribute to anxiety/depression. They can also affect your sleep which is important for your mood. When my sleep is disrupted, I find I have to stop caffeine and switch to decaf.
One of the resources I like is tinybuddha.com/
Thank you for the info!😊
You're welcome, you didn't say if you are on medication and are doing therapy but I have found both to be very beneficial.
I am on medication and going to a counselor. I know it has helped. I still deal with anxiety … worse in the morning but it’s mostly because of my present living conditions which I’m working diligently to change.
Good for you, try to be kind and compassionate to yourself during this time.
I’m really trying. I’ve always taken care of everyone else.
I understand, I think it's quite difficult for us who were never taught or modeled those skills or even shamed for anything resembling it. Anything by Kristin Neff is a good resource. For me it's a process, some days better at than others.
It use to be, it's what is called "anticipatory anxiety" and is the fear of the anxiety coming back. Mine happens anymore when I am triggered about my childhood emotional neglect and being bullied as a kid. I went through panic attacks, general anxiety and then realized my main issue was social anxiety which I have mostly resolved.
I've found the DARE Anxiety book, youtube videos and program by Barry McDonaugh to be very helpful and also any books and youtube videos by Dr. Claire Weekes.
