The first of many yet to come.. Nature vs. Depression. Every little bit of brightness helps

Iris...
Beautiful! An Iris smells like fresh grape juice, to me.
I'll have to check it out
Faint floral fragrance yes...Grape juice? Not so much...Note to self: When sniffing flowers, do so gently.. Ya don't get pollen on and in your nose that way.
Haha that's what I would do snif and get pollen everywhere.
The downside to spring. I get "clobbered" here where I live. Between the few ornamentals and the profusion of native plant (I live in a transitional zone Chaparral to Alpine) I get a "Pollen Potpourri " every spring... It's a small price to pay for all the fragrances and color.
I love the colour of the Iris Lazaruslong, it’s very striking. Thank you. 🙂
You're welcome. I'll try and post as more of them bloom.
Please do, you’re so right every bit of brightness helps a lot. 🙂👍
Sometimes in the depths of our depression, we forget the simple pleasures that have strong healing powers..
Your post and photo are a gentle reminder. 🙂
Better gentle than "in your face" Gentle is much easier to receive. Thank you.
In complete agreement. 🙂
Beautiful! The petals look like tissue paper. Thank you for sharing.
Very pretty! Should I shre some pictures from my garden too?
Thanks! Share? Sure why not?
These weird flowers grow in my garden. In the first stage they have purple petals which fall off and then these wispy things develop. Lastly, they dry and become fluffy and can be kept as dried flowers. They are so cool!
WOW! Thanks! Do you know what they are?
They look like Clematis seed heads.
These aren't vines. They are very short flowers on a plant that blooms every year. (Is that called an annual or a perineal or?)
Annuals require fresh planting yearly Perennials return by them selves every year.
Lazaruslong, Just the picture of your beautiful Iris made me smile as well as
the memory it brought back.
These grew in the backyard of my childhood home. Mother's Day was coming
up and my sister and I wanted to give mom something special. So we cut one of the
flowers, placed a beautiful ribbon around it and put it inside an old florist box.
We were so proud to be giving our mom an Orchid for Mother's Day (at least that's
what we thought they were) She pinned it on her shoulder and proudly wore it to
church that Sunday. Little did we know that the gift to our mom was really the love and thought
behind our homemade corsage. xx
That's nice of you to share that memory. Thank you
Oh that iris is beautiful! I was born in Tennessee where the iris is the state flower. It was always amazing to visit the state capital in Nashville when all of the irises were blooming all around.

My mom loved purple flowers. Every mother's day and on her birthday, I gave her an iris bouquet. Now I associate them with her memory. Thank you, Lazaruslong, for the beautiful picture.
You're welcome 😊
