You need to speak to your doctor.

Please check the HealthUnlocked rules.

May I ask - do you drink a lot of coffee?

You're doing the right thing there so I'm guessing you're eating healthily too.

I would still strongly suggest you speak to your doctor.

I would be wanting to eliminate any physical condition that can cause these symptoms for example : a Thyroid condition. Have you ever had Thyroid Function blood tests? I would ask for these and would also ask for Thyroid Antibodies blood tests. Maybe get some other Antibodies tested too.

I'd ask for some nutrients levels to be tested especially :

Vitamin D & Calcium

Vitamin B 12

Folate (B9) and Ferritin

& also for a Full Blood Count.

Edit :

Ask for :

FreeT3

FreeT4

Total T4

TSH

TPO & Tg Antibodies

TSI

(For full Thyroid check).

Yes, I was left undiagnosed and therefore untreated for many years . Suffered horrendously. Anxiety, depression, dread, fearfulness, severe chronic constipation, weight gain, breathing problems, heart symptoms etc etc . . . .

If you don't mine me asking do you have Hashimoto's (reply in pm if you prefer).

I have Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroiditis which is common and the cause of Hypothyroidism is most cases (as you'll know).

I do wish that more people were tested for Thyroid Antibodies, especially TPO because with Hashimoto's the regular tfts (Thyroid Function Tests ) can come back just within the normal ranges so are not reliable on their own .

This results in people being told their Thyroid " is OK " when it isn't - like I was.

Hi 👋🏻. It’s been a long story with my thyroid. I’m 61 now and had problems since 17. Here goes Mary. Diagnosed with over active at 19 and given a form of methamidazol began with C. After that didn’t work, I was given radioactive iodine tablet After THAT didn’t work, it was decide to do a sub- total thyroidectomy. Which all happened over a six month period. They left 1/8th of my thyroid. Throughout this time I was having panic attacks anxiety and put on various calmers , antidepressants and beta blockers. All this happening after and during two pregnancies. Left with a twelve inch scar that , due to surgeon being called out halfway through operation, and registrar taking over , the scar is adhered to my windpipe still ( same as handing your knitting over to another. Different tensions in cut ) Looks and feels awful but after all this time who cares. (Sorry this is so long). Anyway. Throughout the years. I have had 150 too100 levothroxine. having graves and hashimoto, at different times in this forty year period , ten months ago I was found to have overactive thyroid again !! Had symptoms of fast heart etc anxiety panic So was put down to 100 from 150. ( got to 👏🏻 applause what’s left of my thyroid here for not giving in. U go girl 😂) I am still very anxious. I have over the last eight years and at last hospital visit in November, gone from bradycardia 47 !! bpm. To 110 bpm. When I was 37 I was diagnosed with heart failure, I have left bundle branch block since 37 and fibromyalgia. Also a whole lot of others, IBS osteo etc. Won’t bore you. 😉I’m not depressed. Just a very jumpy anxious bag of nerves. I wonder. 🤔 maybe all this thyroid stuff has a lot to do with the heart stuff I have.? Hope that helps seems I wrote more than I intended but Hope it helps Mary. Take care

No need to apologise. Wow ! You've been through it too. You are so brave. Very interesting life story. I suffered many medical blunders but being called out while you're operating on someone and leaving before you finished !!!! Words fail me.

I'm a bit older than you and only recently been increased to 100mcg. Wasn't diagnosed till 2011. My digestive tract is a mess from beginning to end! Long story.

Think I'd agree that that Thyroid problems underly the heart problems. After all - an adequate supply of Thyroxine is needed by every cell in the body. Without it nothing functions properly , every organ & body part is affected , brain, heart, etc.

Thank you very much!!I will talk to my doctor and request these tests!!

Have to add here in Uk i have just the basics tested each time. Untill I came here I didn’t know there was others to test for. Next one is due end of month but obviously won’t be getting it. I shall ask for the other things to be tested too. Thankyou. all here for that 👍🏻

I'm in the UK too and, yes, they just test TSH annually to monitor. Sometimes they'll do TSH & T4.

But it's not good enough. They should really test FreeT3.

I'll get back to you with a helpful webpage that I found easy to follow. I think it's verywell.com - your Thyroid blood tests explained.

Ask for a referal to an Endocrinologist. Do you have Ultrasound scans?

in reply toMary-intussuception

Yes they only do the free T 3 if asked I gather. Thankyou. that would be good. I have a few web sites but I think that because I have had it for so long, and because of my other Heath issues with heart. And pain I also have angina 🙄 I have tented to let the thyroid side slip. Which is not good as it controls so much of us. I have had many scans. Last one last year. They was looking at what’s left. I go to Endocrinologist’s every six months. Am due soon. Have you had any scans yet ?

Yes, I was told over the phone by a lovely woman (who took calls at a certain time of day) to ask for the Ultrasound scan of my Thyroid. I got her number from a Thyroid website. She listened to me as I went through all my symptoms and told me " you have Hashimoto's " !

So I asked the GP for the scan. It showed the Thyroiditis. GP refered me to Endocrinologist who arranged lots of blood tests one week before appointment. My TPO Antibodies result was 300 ! He also arranged Short Synacthen Test to check out my Adrenals.

I was discharged by his registrar on the third appointment and left on 75mcg.

I joined Thyroid forum on here 3 years ago and learned a lot more.

Long story short.

I now see Endocrinologist every 6 months and annual scans.

Sorry mary. I answered your post further up under wrong post.

you too have had a lot done yourself. It’s very frustrating trying to get all these different tests done. My original diagnosis I forget to add was because I had a large goitre around my thyroid. I just thought I had a thick kneck. So that’s why , combined with overactive I had op. X is 300 high or low Mary ? Like I said. I’m afraid I have not had much ability to understand or find mine out as I’ have had it so long I tend to put it on back burner. But after reading yours and others posts here , I can see how it could be my thyroid that either started or caused other things I have or is making me a nervous wreck. Do u drop things a lot. ? I have tried meditation but it’s not a mental anxiety, more of a wish of adrenaline or something. Like something actually courses through me , I do wonder if endocrinologists give us the best levo meds. I’m on Teva. But the chemists give me every brand that’s there in turn

Mary-intussuception in reply to

Sorry I'm not familiar with op. X ( or is that a typing error.

Do you mean my 300 (TPO ) yes that's High Antibodies , normal range is 0 - 35 or 0 - 65 .

I have to go now back later.

By the way you can send me a private message anytime.

Also :

Have you thought about putting a post on the Thyroid forum on here. There are people with a lot of experience & knowledge there.

x

Op. 🤔 must be typo 😂 I’ve forgot
