Ideas:

1. Residents of nursing homes enjoy visitors. Many are so lonely. Some want to talk; some love having someone read to them. Lots of opportunities.

2. Local libraries have programs that survive only because of volunteers. Low key tasks, usually.

3. Salvation Army, Goodwill, Big Brothers/Sisters, YMCA, Red Cross, American Cancer Society

Ask a mental health professional! I’m in a different branch of healthcare, but I think it’s pretty universal that good established healthcare professionals have a deep appreciation of the value of mentoring new aspiring professionals. After all, clinical intern & externships, rotations, and mentoring programs are a key component of the learning process for many health fields! They couldn’t have gotten where they were without help.
