TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation)

Has anyone received TMS? If so, what were your results?

I have not tried TMS but inquired into it. I was told that it was for people who suffer from depression but their symptoms are manageable. I had ECT back in May because I was unable to function. I travelled 4 hundred miles to have it done. 12 treatments over a 4 week period. The 3rd week the doctor told me I would have to continue with maintenance treatments as my depression would eventually return which it did. I couldn't believe it! There is no ECT where I live. Now I am back to square one but I haven't given up hope of recovery. I haven't always been depressed and I hang onto the hope that I will depression free once more.

Ihortiz, I'm sorry to hear that ECT didn't work for you; that's very disappointing. I'm glad that you still have hope, as do I. I feel like i kind of forgotten what it feels like not to be depressed. Good luck with your recovery.

Thanks. I know what you mean about "What does normal feel like". I've been in it so long but I think much of it had to do with my circumstances at the time. I am absolutely looking forward to full recovery. : )

Yes I tried it last September. I had 8 sessions and did not see or feel any results. It actually agitated me with the pecking in my head. Not sure if it works for others but not for me. I'm always searching for a non drug solution as I don't want additional problems but nothing so far has worked. I hope this helps somewhat

Thanks for your response. That really stinks it didn't work for you. I'm scared I'm going to go through all of those sessions and it's not going to work for me either and then what? I feel I'm running out of options and what if I feel like this for the rest of my life?; that would really stink! I guess the only way to find out is to try it though. Just like anything else, it may work for some, but not for others.
