DVT (Blood Clots)

DVT ( Blood clots ) ongoing issues and concerns. How long does it take for the DVT to dissolve. I am taking a new anticoagulant one tablet 20 mg rivaroxaban per day this time instead of Warfarin which I took for my first leg DVT.Hopefully it will then stop my left leg swelling up after light exercise which I believe does me no harm?

I've had 3 DVT in my right thigh the last one I had was from my groin right down to my knee.

I'm on rivoxaban for life now as nice guidelines suggest after two dvt you should be on medication for benefit versus risk.

I was never sure how long it took to dissolve a clot.

I had a suspected clot In October last year turned out to be no clot and all my previous clot had gone.

Hope you keep your legs elevated more. Suggestion, have a brick pit under each bottom leg of your bed. It helps the blood flow back to your body.

I've had DVT in my left leg for 20 years. Six months ago I developed a DVT in my right leg. Put a thrombosis stocking on it. But the DVT moved, went through my heart broke up and to my lungs.

I'm on Apaxaban

20 years ago they used warfarin and Harper in on me for my left leg. That caused me to generate in the groin. That crushed the nerve bundle to my left leg.

I'm on warfarin and have been told that it can take up to six months for the clot to fully disperse. The warfarin doesn't actually get rid of it, it just thins your blood to make it easier to get around the clot. You're body then naturally works at getting rid of the clot on its own. I also used to have swollen legs/ankles and I've put blocks of wood under the end of the bed, works a treat
