Hi Malsue. Firstly of course you should ask your doctor or enquire at the thrombosis clinic as everyone's situation is different and it's essential you get the advice which is correct for you. Your husband's DVT was very recent so perhaps his anti-coagulant treatment is not stable yet - that would definitely need to be sorted out before you went abroad. Once that is done, the general advice I received after my DVT was that the Warfarin protected me against a further DVT so flying should not be too much of an issue. It was stressed that I should wear compression socks when flying (on both legs although I usually only wore them on one), and that it was most important to get up and walk about as much as possible and to drink plenty of fluids. Incidentally, this advice applies to any kind of travel when you are likely to be sedentary for a while - such as train or car journeys. I suffered no further ill effects when flying but it was a bit scary! Best of luck with your travel plans.
I agree with jaxta 51, you should ask your doctor or enquire at the thrombosis clinic as everyone's situation is different and it's essential you get the advice which is correct for you. I feel jaxtas advice is sound, and agree with the compression socks and travel.. (When jaxta says drink plenty of fluids, to be clear, this doesn't include alcohol) LOL...
Something else to consider is medical insurance, if something were to happen while out of the Country most plans won't cover you for 'pre-existing' conditions unless you have been 'stable' for 3 months.. That means that your Hubbies INR stays within the therapeutic range.
Hi I had a PE in Jan 2015 and was allowed to fly on a short flight 2 and half hrs at the end of March Your Dr will advise you good luck
