Has anyone taken Mirabegron for dry oab?

Taken it for a week and although symptoms are a bit better they haven’t gone away, starting to think it never will

Hi there,

I also take mirabegron. I am not quite too sure what the different between dry-oab and wet-oab is. However, I found mirabegron to be very helpful I just have to be careful. If I drink a ton of liquids then I wont be able to hold it. Or if I have a full bladder and have to walk somewhere then mirabegron doesnt really help. But I found that if I plan out my washroom trips and I monitor my fluid intake then I found mirabegron to be very helpful. So without mirabegron I would have to pee 4 times after some coffee on mirabegron its only 1 to 2 times. I also found that keeping a routine helps with the incontinence from AMN. I dont know if that helps but thats how I manage stuff.

Hope this helps, Connor.

Hi Connor,

I just have the urge to go all the time but I don’t actually need to, I am fortunate not to suffer with the incontinence side of things.

I found the term on a different forum and thought it was a good way of differentiating between the two types of OAB.

Thanks for coming back to me :)

I don’t have “dry” OAB (rather “open the floodgates OAB) but my doc was recently able to get Gemtesa approved…it’s a cousin of Mirabegron, (my insurance wouldn’t cover that) and so far I am finding it very helpful! I was losing hope since nothing was very helpful at all for me, not even Botox. It’s hasn’t gone away but I am finally able to think of something other than the next available bathroom. I wonder if it might be an option for you? Also, in the literature, it says that Mirabegron can take 1-3 months to see maximum effectiveness so hopefully it willget better and better for you.

I take it. I read on their site it takes a month to fully work.

I really appreciate this posting! I haven't OAB meds in many years but would like to try again prior to opting for the day-surgery options. I need to contact my urologist and discuss this again. I believe my pelvic floor muscles are starting to give, as well, but want to try this course of action first.

Hi Jo!

I am happy to report that I am on day 16 of taking 50mg of Mirabegron and there has been a vast improvement in symptoms in the last day or so.

When it says it can take 4-6weeks to work it wasn’t a rough guess, it seems it really will take a while to actually kick in.

Give it a whirl, at least then you’ve tried xx
