I am genuinely in two minds about all of this, but the genie is well and truly out of the bottle with this malarky. Most soybeans available are genetically engineered, fish DNA in tomatoes, and now this. Fully synthetic.

As the article says, E coli is already used by the biopharmaceutical industry to make insulin for diabetes and other medical compounds for cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart attacks and eye disease.

I read that the HIV virus had been reengineered to eat cancer cells. I may have posted here my idea to create a virus that eats VLCFA's. I just need several hundred million Dollars to realize that one.
