Fludrocortisone: hello, i was just wondering if... - AMN EASIER
Fludrocortisone
I have been taking it for 20 years. No know side effects. It is necessary to replace aldosterone to balance sodium if you have the adrenal insufficiency form of adrenomyeloneuropathy.
Be well.
I have Addison's secondary to AMN, and take 0.1 mg of fludrocortisone once a day. I don't think I've ever experienced side effects.
I'm 60 and have Addison's since I was 13. I take 0.1mg daily. It is needed to increase my blood pressure. I used to have 1 very flat day at least once a month. Fludrocortisone has made me feel normal. I have shown signs of AMN for the last 25 years.
I have AMN and Addison's and have been taking Fludrocortisone for the past 6 years with no side effects and no nasty after taste.
Fludrocortisone is standard fare with Addison's. I also take 0.1 daily with prednisone. We are "salt (NA) wasters" due to our deficiency of aldosterone. When we waste too much NA by sweating (or by urine), a lower blood volume may result and cause fatigue. You will also see added electrolytes in sports drinks to replenish lost fluids.
