Early onset dementia

Hi, I'm new on here.

I have a concern. My uncle had early onset dementia in his 60s.

His brother, my dad, died at 85 with no mental decline whatsoever.

I have seven older siblings. 84 80 74 73 69 65 and me 63.

Sadly my sister of 74 has just been diagnosed with vascular dementia but apart from her we are all fine.

However I am still concerned. Is it likely that early onset would skip my dad and older siblings and settle with me?

Thank you.

Welcome to the community. Sporadic Alzheimer's disease is by far the most common form, meaning a number of factors (genetic, environment, health history) are involved.

Familial AD (high risk genes) is extremely rare, and typically involves very early onset (50s+).

Professional diagnosis will be through a GP/PCP, or more likely a specialist (neurologist).
