Not sure if it truly represents the full story of Fibromyalgia. In my opinion, although it starts off by saying that this doctor knows what it's like and has it herself, I feel like it makes it appear a superficial illness in comparison to illness that in reality are on a par ;I.e.neurological disorders like your petition asks everyone to support and I do agree with what you are the World Health organisation to do.

I find with a lot of American articles and forums it isn't detailed enough for me, so find it hard to identify with them.

I am in sheer agony at the moment, rock bottom and have been told I am severely depressed and I am just recovering from surgery on my spine and right shoulder to cut the nerves to stop pain signals to my brain and block things in my facet joints in my cervical area if my spine. This is for cervical spondylosis that I have as well as Fibromyalgia.

A holistic approach is a distant dream for me that I hope one day I might achieve but in the real world, I am dependant on various medications to even get through the day in my bed and home.

My husband is getting fed up of me and doesn't understand even though I gave him 3 things to read 5 weeks later they have barely been touched. But I don't blame him, I would be fed up of me.

It us also nearly 2a.m. so there is an element of truth in the report, but that is what the report is, a very small element of an enormous story yet to be told.

I agree with your reply.

No one with fibromyalgia is the same. We all have a different degree of symptoms and not every medication or exercise works with one person. It's difficult to write a report or a medical paper because of this.

Many of the Doctors I've seen don't appear to believe or try to understand fibromyalgia.

I also understand that doctors are heavily overloaded with work and don't have the resources or time to deal with this growing illness /condition.

I agree with your response to my reply. My doctor barely looks at me for the 10 minute slot allotted to me after waiting a month to 6 weeks for an appointment. I know they are overworked but forgive me if I am not sympathetic when they earn over £100,000 and my doctor only works 3 days a week!! Every time I ring up there is a locum or even worse the locum 3 times in the last 3 months has rang in sick or not even turned up when I was waiting to see him/her.

I read many reports hoping someone somewhere will come up with some reason or something to explain to the world that YES it is real and YES it is extremely painful, but please don't patronise me or belittle what you don't yet understand.

If someone has something that I don't know about I wouldn't dream about being so rude as to dismiss it as a non existent condition, I would show some respect and find out about it. Anytime I see an opportunity for information leaflets I get them to be sent to my doctors surgery in the hope that they get educated. But the clue is in the name GENERAL practitioner. I have been sat next to one doctor who looked on medical Wikipedia and showed me what he thought it might be. I can do that myself and said to my husband, I could probably do better myself, just give me the approval to prescribe and I would do a cracking job.

My end point is, why shouldn't we do our own survey everyone on this forum and collate the information and submit it somewhere. Strength in numbers or divide and conquer with each lone person struggling. I am sure it would be less general and more specific and meaningful to us rather than an averaged out report from someone in America.
