Had ablation

Yes - it’s not uncommon. I think my HR has never returned to pre Ablation levels but then I didn’t take any drugs to limit HR. By about 9-12 months my resting HR was down to about 70. Took I lot longer than I was expecting to fully recover from ablation.
Currently feeling crap HR fluctuating from 120 - 110 should I go to A&E?
Yes straight there...Don't forget to tell them how long this has been going on for today..
Bit OTT that, best to phone ablation team/nurse first.
I know but that's just me. For example, I have been working in the garden today for about 25mins, I have got chest tightness and light-headedness and alit bit of shortness of breath. What do I do...I have been diagnosed with an Aortic Root and ascending aneurysm since March 2023. .Iam so scared now that I can't even do Gardening without feeling unwell
If you read my blog I kept a diary after my ablation. I had my ablation in July last year. My hr was 98 constant at rest for a few weeks, after that it started to settle down. Anxiety will raise it. It’s hard to relax when you have been through this and I think we all look at symptoms thinking it hasn’t worked. It took me until January to start feeling just a little normal. Every pain, thump or twinge I thought something awful might happen. Now in April and back to normal and actually not thinking about my heart now and whether it is going fast or slow. Normal now for me is around 70 to 75. Walking the dog 110. I think we have all experienced the same as you. Good luck. Try to rest up as much as you can.
Same with me. My heart rate is higher now than pre ablation at around 72bpm. It took me the 12 months to get to this stage and recover fully

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
It is not uncommon to find that your heart rate is faster than before you had the ablation. We have a 'recovering from an ablation' information sheet that contains a wealth of supportive information regarding post ablation. I do hope you find it helpful: api.heartrhythmalliance.org...
If you have any concerns whilst recovering, please do reach out to your cardiology team/doctor as they will be able to advise you on an individual basis.
If you would like any support, advice or further information, please do reach out to our dedicated Patient Services Team via Patient Helpline or via email, please visit: heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...
We are always here if you need us.
Kind regards,
HollieAdmin
What is”reach out”? Do you mean ‘contact’? - in plain English
not answering for her but reach out is pretty common to say instead of contact in plain English UK or the it means the same
Think I've sussed it looks like my sodium levels are down had a packet of scampi fries and about 40 mins later HR was down
do you have a contact number for the cardiology nurse at your hospital? It might be worth a call, I know how you feel, I had my ablation on the 3rd, so experiencing some weird heart beats and chest discomfort, my cardiologist said this could been happening for 3 months, hope you feel better soon
Try not to worry, a normal HR is between 60-100. Your heart has been through a traumatic procedure so no wonder it’s letting you know it’s not happy.
I suffered chest discomfort after my ablations and they worked for couple of years but 3rd ablation left me with high heart rate of 170. Was cardioverted after trip to A& E but 3 months later my heart rate rocketed again after reducing my meds and just confirmed yesterday I have atrial flutter. This can happen after ablation but can be successfully treated in most cases by top up so I have opted for one last procedure.
I commiserate with Buffafly. At present I sit at 95ish but bisoprolol has aged me. No hills, stairs……limited gardening of 10mins before chest/jaw pain stops me in my tracks.
You know your own body best and I wouldn’t stop you going to A&E but we’re trying to ease your mind. As previous posts have suggested….contact your Arrythmia nurse for advice and don’t stress…..it adds a few more bpm.
I was told that an accelerated regular HR was a good sign . However if it continues check with your medical team. I had tachycardia after mine but all got sorted eventually .I wish you well.
Were you on Flec before the ablation or just the last 6 days? I was on it 7months before the ablation & it turned my AFib to Atypical A/flutter which is what they ablated. I’m still on it as I do have AFib breakthrough every now & then (usually from infection/virus/inflammation.
Post ablation took 4 months to settle. One day, suddenly woke up in NSR
We all recover at different rates, 6 days possibly too early to be wanting to do stuff. Rest if you feel bad, there’s not really a quick fix I’m afraid.
If you feel really terrible then give the arrhythmia nurses, where you the ablation, a call.
Provided you are in the UK - British Heart Foundation nurses were very helpful to me when I had some concerns tel 0300 330 3311 weekdays 9-5pm. You also have the 111 service if you need advice or they’ll arrange for you to go to hospital if it’s deemed necessary. Obviously if things feel severe then call 999
Hope you soon feel better
I had an ablation In Oct. 2024. I started having fast heart rates about a month later
And that lasted off and on for three months. I haven’t had an episode since Feb. of this year. I am taking no medication except for1 lowdose aspirin twice a week.
Indeed, my HR was significantly increased post ablation, both at rest and with activity. I was told this would be my new normal. For the most part that's proven true but it has settled gradually over 3 years now, but is still elevated from previous levels. I find I actually feel better as a result, however. For the first 6 months though I was anxious about this. Easy walks would sometimes result in spikes to 120 bpm. Doctors and Nurses were not concerned. My resting rate pre ablation was in the high 50's. Afterwards it was 85. Now, it is in the low 70's. Honestly, the recovery was more challenging and longer than I expected but it was well worth it. Best of luck!
My heart rate was 120-130 after ablation.
Flecanaide and bisoprolol didn’t touch it. After 3 weeks of this. I contacted the consultant.
Who changed medication to Sotalol
Heart rate went to 70-80 overnight.
And felt normal again.
