just a query, is it normal for your resting heart rate be mid 70s , after ablation. resting heart rate was mid 50,s. Still waiting for post op appointment with the EP who did operation. I’m still on beta blockers, blood thinners, blood pressure tablets, just waiting for the appointment to come. Good news I’ve had no AF since ablation back in January 😃 but just conserned about high resting heart rate.

4 months post ablation

It can take a year or so to settle back to old resting HR and maybe never as low as it was. I feel the higher resting HR helps to keep you in NSR and maybe the bradycardia was contributing to AF episodes in my opinion. Mine has only just started to drop in to the 50s again after 16 months but I am off the beta blockers since 3 month review. See my bio by clicking on my badge.
Best wishes
Touted by many on the US AF forums as being the hallmark of an ablation which has a greater chance of being successful !
Mid 70’s certainly isn’t a high resting heart rate. It is perfectly normal. Mid 50’s is on the low side and could well have contributed to triggering AF, unless of course you are an athlete.
Just enjoy being AF free. Really nothing to worry about. Your heart rate may well drop over the next year post ablation anyway.
My heart rate was up like yours after all three of my ablations. I understand it's normal.
my resting can usually be in the 60s before I get up to do anything but it doesn’t take much to get it to start going up because I’m moving I guess. What is it doing when you’re up and about? I can hit 90 and then go right back down in the 70s or mid 80s at my age. My doctor is not concerned. My doctor seems to think the way it works as you get older. Early morning I am up with the dog and out usually it’s a little bit on the urgent side for him which means I’m moving faster and yes, it goes up and when I sit down, it will go back to what I consider normal. Best thing to do is see what your doctor tells you when you see him ask him what he considers normal resting for you and normal when you are puttering around doing household things or working. Having a pacemaker I am set at certain numbers, but even that does not keep you there.
anxiety can raise it also so try to relax as hard as it is when he tells you it’s OK you will probably feel better and it might even go lower
I had this post ablation. My EP / Cardiologist told me that it was a good sign.
