Edoxoban v Apixaban (again)

yup it’s me again , after research and advice I started taking the Apixaban 5mgx 2 ,two days ago in place of 6Omg of Edoxoban daily ., which I have been taking for a few years with no problem. As stated in my previous post this was a decision made by our area medical group.

since then I have had episodes of palpitations a few times each day, lasting a few mins but as you all know seems much longer.

My Diagnosis is PAF which is well managed by Bisoporol and palpitations is a whole new ballgame .

Do I stop the Apaxiban and go back to the Edoxoban or get myself thro this over the next few days until I can speak to someone at the medical practice on Monday … why do these thing always happen on a Friday ?

Good post as in the UK I think it is only a matter of time before we are all switched over to the cheaper drug. That said as my AF is in a state of flux (recent change) I will be resisting it because of exactly what you have experienced and the last thing I need at present.

Hi Pugsley

I’m in permanent AF and was advised to start Apixaban last June which I duly did. Since then I have noticed increasing problems with joint pain and dizziness. I eventually, through a process of elimination, discovered it was being caused by the Apixaban.

Doing more research on the drug I discovered that it can also, albeit rarely, cause tachycardia amongst other things. As I’m now going to be on anticoagulants for life I’ve decided I would prefer Warfarin with a view to self-testing. My surgery has agreed to my choice, very reluctantly I might add but I got there in the end😊

Personally if I were in your position and you have sufficient stock, I would go back on the drug that suited you best. As you say, these things always happen at the start of the weekend, or, if you’re really lucky, a Bank Holiday🙄

All the best to you, TC
