I was told last month that the waiting list for PF ablation was 9 months. Had a phone call yesterday asking could I go in on the 9th April šŸ˜± I canā€™t as Iā€™m away so next date 2nd May. I thought Iā€™d got 9 months to get my head round this and as I was due to finish my letrazole in a year though I might see if stopping them could possibly stop the AF. My dilemma, should I stop the letrazole now and see how or it the AF improves, leave the ablation for another year or just go for it?? šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Not really a dilemma. Go for the 2nd May. See what the ep says about Letrazole. Stopping Letrazole might stop some palpitations, ectopics, pvc's but unlikely to have effect on AF. If you need an ablation, sooner rather later was always the key factor for me.

Just go for it, AF never just 'goes away ', I learned the hard way. Didn't want the ablation. I had last March but glad I did have it done

The least delay the better in my opinion.

It really is ultimately your decision, if you have been invited to have an ablation at this time, discuss your concerns with the Consultant at your earliest convenience.

However, it is important to remember the sooner an ablation is performed for AF it will increase your success rate of reducing or eliminating your AF episodes.

Our Patient Services team are here to offer support and answer any questions, so please do not hesitate to contact us, either via our dedicated patient helpline or via email: heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...

We hope to hear from you soon.

Go for the PFA. The drugs donā€™t cure anything.

Iā€™m expecting a similar offer. It depends how symptomatic your AF is and how old ysrw, Uā€™d say. I certainly think one ablation for AF is likely to - somehow or other - create the need for a second, maybe thirdā€¦ and that thought I find none too enjoyable!

Generally the sooner the better for an ablation. Youā€™re probably just putting it off because of course nobody WANTS to get a medical procedure!
