I mentioned to the doctor I was on Apixaban and he just asked me what time I took my last Apixaban. He seemed not worried as I had taken it at 9 am and this was 2 pm I had the jab.

No, but I have regular injections in my spine and I am on Warfarin. I have to have the Warfarin gradually withdrawn, then I have to inject myself with Fragmin and then have to have Warfarin gradually reintroduced. I have to do this every 3/4 months. Hopefully with Apixaban you don’t have to go thru all this.

I had a steroid injection in my hip. Apixaban wasn’t mentioned at all and no problem.

Similar to previous replies. I have had steroid/cortisone injection in spine and shoulder, whilst taking Apixaban.

This was noted on my pre medical/injection form. Nil comment from practitioner and nil after affects.

Cheers Cam

I take Apixaban and had injection in my shoulder by consultant with no problems and didn’t stop the apixaban but this year had another shoulder injection done with an ultrasound led injection and was told to stop anti coagulant for 24hours before appointment to avoid any bleeding into joint! Had no problems maybe check with department doing the injection to put your mind at rest good luck with the injection hope you get good results!

yes I’ve had two and no problems. Plus I didn’t have to stop my apixaban. She had to wiggle the needle around a good deal too the second time, but didn’t even bleed. Good luck x

not in my knee, but I recently had one in my hip and in July I had one in my wrist plus I have been on prednisone and never had a problem with any of those. Always make sure the attending doctor is aware of things like that. I have a pacemaker. I actually have a card from the pacemaker clinic at the hospital that includes all my info. The hospital I usually go to has a specialist for everything which is good because that helps them to be able to focus on paying attention to these things. All doctor should, but I have been amazed how some places don’t keep your records up. According to another hospital, I have never had a vaccine for anything including Covid or even a childhood disease the even though I provided them a copy of the list from the state of Florida. I just don’t get the laziness if you’re that busy you’re in the wrong business that you can’t be bothered with the people that need you possibly to save their life.

I am due knee injection on monday. Been told no need to stop Apixaban . Had guided ultrasound injections in foot told to dtop Apixaban . Guided steroid epidural , told to stop apixaban . Different departments seem to have different rules. They don’t seem to liaise so it is very confusing. L
