so I have written before,,had 8 epsidoes in 16 days whilst in our holiday home in France, made a gp appt for when we came back end Nov, ecg bloods blah blah. Need a 7 day monitor…and still waiting waiting list 20 weeks,

Had 3 episodes last week and one yesterday..so as I was in at thought I would go to dr to get an ecg ..no..can’t do that despite being only 4 people on the waiting room. Dr had advised me to contact survey to expedite the monitor should things get worse..so..as I had 3 episodes last week and trying to get thru to surgery is impossible I sent a message on nhs app explaining thr above and that I was going away again 16 March for 3 months so if I could possible have the monitor asap then they have something to give cardiologist when I get the referral probably in 2028. She looked at my notes and said oh yes..you have an appt. No that’s for thoracic clinic next week! 🙈so some bright spark has seen the word appt on my notes and took that as done and dusted for heart. So the nice (not)receptionist sent a message to admin….bearing in mind I go away in 8 days!

even looked at private medical insurance..of course they won’t cover pre existing.

Just feel so pissed off with it all.

Keep trying to identify triggers,…dehydration I know was responsible for 2 episodes and yesterday I bent down after lunch picking up my sox!

upside..I don’t feel ill..I busy myself so I take my mind off it.

Female 65 flecanide 2x 100, apixaban. BP tabs.Walk 2 miles min daily, weight train x3 weekly…not over weight. Don’t drink caffeine. Alcohol on rare social events.

HR will peak around 110 and then hover around 70s til I revert at 50s. Yesterday was about 8 hrs. Didn’t pee as much as I have done before so that was a plus and at least I was at home. Nothing worse when the need to wee is urgent and there’s no where to go..eg French motorway and the rest stops were shut..had to pee like a racehorse between the car doors. Now invested in a sheewee.

as soon as I get this flipping monitor which prob won’t be til summer I’ll get the referral and pay to see someone. Never seen a real live cardiologist..only phone calls and accents don’t transfer well over the phone especially when deaf in one ear! Falling apart since hitting 60 lol

Sorry for rant but so lovely to have sympathetic ears here. Have a lovely day.

Have you thought about getting a monitor to capture what’s going on to show the cardiologist when you do see one. It needs to be a cardiologist that specialises in arrhythmias called and Electrophysiologist.

Monitors link api.heartrhythmalliance.org...

None of the investigations ever caught my AF episodes in 3 years but I captured 40+ episodes on my Apple Watch.

Best wishes

Thank you, I only have a cheap smart watch and I just watch the HR. I know I should get a Kardia or similar but I know it would freak me out .

Yes..I need to see an EP..and that’s what I’ll do once I’ve had this monitor which the surgery called me today..told me off as they had already informed me that I’m on the list and will get one in June when I get back ! A mere 7 months…they have no empathy . Heaven forbid she gets AF .

I’ll check out that link tho. Thanks for your time

I too think you would be best to get a Kardia or similar, so you can capture your episodes. I know what you mean about freaking you out, but tell yourself you will only use it if you have an episode. I have an applewatch and have disabled the heart rate as it causes me too much anxiety, but I do have a Kardia.

Thank you I wasn’t sure how they worked.

Cardiology however want a 7 day read so until that’s done I can’t get referred. The EP I want to see won’t see me without a referral and will need an ecg of sorts, I can’t do much now as we go away week Sunday until mid June or hopefully return earlier if the house sells in France. I may however contact the EP and ask what sort of read outs he would want..I know they accept kardia…but obviously with a 7 day you can guarantee you don’t have AFIB when you need it but would track any other heart abnormalities..so what EP would want similar to that.

But yes…think it will be a matter of ordering. X

very positive that you do not feel ill when you have an episode. I wish I did not!
