Hi there

Just wondering how to deal with my partner's ED after having a AF and prescribed bisoprolol just after new year. Never had a problem before with getting hard and staying hard enough but online search looks like nothing to do with the tablet but we know it's this tablet causing it. He still not get a the result from the x-ray.

It is the Bisoprolol. Doesn't always happen, but unfortunate for some. Beta Blockers can have that effect. I think its worth seeing the GP to check out alternative BBs, which might or might not have this issue with your partner. Altho bisoprolol is one of the more effectve drugs for this issue AF. Trial and error with this, I'm afraid. Alternately the problem might just solve itself and go away. Which can happen in time (how long?)

Wish you well on that

Phil

Thank you for your reply. We know it's the tablet causing it and just wondering how to deal with it. He started the tablet end of December.

X-ray?? If you can measure the start of it by when he was put on Bisoprolol then that's pretty good evidence. As pip_pip says there are alternatives to Biso, and/or the other thing to look at is the level of dosage,is it optimal for him. Is that the only effect? Does it make him generally tired, light headed etc.?There are a couple of men's health forums on here too, you might try over there, though I've never seen this particular issue being reported.

Hi. Chest scan or heart scan done and going to do another one because they lost the first one, it's 2,50 bisoprolol and I will tell him look at it. He feels tired and fatigued all the time since taken the tablet.

Yes the tired and fatigued is the Biso. There is a 1.25 pill, not sure about lower. But there are other beta blockers.

I was prescribed 2.5mg Bisoprolol when first diagnosed with Paroxysmal AF (it’s the standard response to diagnosis) but discussed my concerns with GP and decided initially to take 1.25mg instead (there’s a score in the pill so you can use a pill cutter). Once an echocardiogram/scan has been done, you will know whether a betablocker is really required. I stopped completely once the medics confirmed my heart structure and operation were fine. There are alternative ways of lowering blood pressure; and reducing heart rate with a betablocker won’t prevent PAF episodes. Your partner’s experience is not unusual.

I've been on bisoprolol for four years. I'm 74 so ED was beginning to kick in slightly at age 70 regardless of medication. A 5mg dose of Cialis solves the problem easily for me.

Thank you and we will see the doctor soon and can discuss about above tablet.

Hello Scout, just read your reply regarding ED and you mentioned a 5mg of Cialis that you take, I’m in a similar place with this problem, and was not aware that it’s ok to take ED medication when you have AF, I’ve never thought to ask the Doc, but think I will after reading your reply, thank you.
