Can I ask you all about blurred vision and bisoprolol

I seemed to get it earlier on, then it seemed to go away now it’s back again. Does anyone else get this and does these tablets have a permanent effect on the vision?

I’m booking up a check at the opthalmist.

Can someone explain what bisoprolol does I take 125, was in higher but cardio dropped it cos it caused my. Vision blurred...then I’ve bern fine fir a few months now it’s bavk..... I’ve noticed some folk stop taking it.....but why are we taking it? Does it help the blood pressure tablet lower the blood pressure?

I’ve lost two stone since May, eating better and no wine!....my blood pressures now 120/64 generally.....

Its hard to get the gist of it all at my appointments speaking french.

Thanks,sue

Bisoprolol is a beta blocker which slows the heart rate down Sue. It may help BP as well. Never having taken it I can't comment on your vision problems. Sorry.

Ah yes I thought it was the one for my heartbeat now a calm 60 to 65.....I guess I need the darn tablet then.....I can’t seem to find anything as to whether it upsets my vision as in my eyes...or dies it upset my vision as in the signals the brain gets.....I don’t stay blurred all day, I get patches...I’m pretty sure uts these tablets as it started with the tablet and got worse when they upped it.....now it’s down to 125

Thanks for answering bob,

Sue

Yes.I had this with Bisoprolol and get it with Nebivolol.I get odd periods of it some days but not every day and both these beta blockers increase the volume of my tinnitus which bothers me much more.

Hi Morzine, to begin I must say your bp is very good. Ref Bisoprolol I can only describe it as a nasty evil drug. Fortunately I have now weaned off this drug approx. two months ago and really feel re-energised since. One of the side effects was dizziness which seemed to be triggered by a rapid eye movement. As I am a regular cyclist dizziness is a side effect

I do NOT require. Now do not take any drugs, only the 75mg soluble aspirin, and to be quite honest have never felt better, life is good, hope it continues like this. Must add that

I DO appear to have a positive attitude, and this coupled with reasonably hard cycling

on a daily basis is my solution to a fit and healthy life. Incidentally I don't drink alcohol and

do not smoke and eat healthily and drink plenty of water. Good Luck and Best Wishes to You Morzine.

Hi. My understanding about why they always prescribe Bisoprolol is as follows. BUT, I'm not a doctor and I'm not speaking from any certain knowledge.

1) It's cheap (as chips)

2) One of the main dangers of AF is that when the heart is misbehaving the rate of fibrillation can rise to damaging levels. When I was terrified during my first ever 'do' mine reached 280 bpm according to the paramedics.

3) A beta blocker slows down the mechanism that raises the heart rate when the body demands more energy. This is why you feel tired and out of breath walking up a hill, but the heart catches up slowly with demand and it gets easier eventually. Ergo, AF cannot drive the heart so fast, so quickly.

I have problems with my eyes, I never connected that with the Bisoprolol, but maybe it is? Who knows? I too have had my tinnitus get worse. Maybe that too then. I'm on 1.25mg daily.

Hi momist.....cheap ah that’s why when mine started in Spain they put me on it, then in France I’m in it...and U.K. uses it.....seems popular....my Cardiologue here saud if I have an afib “ crazy” as he put it , to take another 125 bisoprolol, I’m already in 125.....so I guess that makes sense if it lowers the beats....gosh 280beats that was a lot, my first “ do” was 180...I thought that was enormous!!

I saw something in internet a study of bisoprol that sajd most, like 80%that get vision probs with this tablet get ok after the first month......then it’s on a dwindling scale.....I seem to have had it then it cleared and now it’s back.....at first I thought my tinnitus getting worse was my age and it could be......but others ha e saud it’s worsened......I’m hissing all the time...but you get used to it don’t you.....

I forgot to mention Morzine; another negative feature of Bisoprolol is that it may be a cause of Diabetes. This is done by stemming the production of insulin in the pancreas, and of course the body needs insulin to regulate blood sugar levels. You can check this out via

the internet. Don't be too alarmed but be aware with most drugs, there is a down side. Meanwhile please note I am not medically trained and can only speak from my own

personal experiences. Best wishes, Cycleman.

I would recommend you go to an optician first. You should get a same day appointment. I recently woke with blurred vision in one eye. I went straight to an optician who said she could see a bleed at the back of my eye and referred me directly to ophthalmologist. Treatment started same day Lucentis injected into eyeball (sounds grim but is painless). Had 3 injections monthly and touch wood all clear. Big cheer for specsavers

I have booked an appointment thought I’d best get it checked,

Thanks

I'm up for an ablation next week. One of the main reasons for the decision to proceed, is to get off Bisoprolol. Nasty drug to say the least.

I have a heart rate of 45, even thought I walk brisk 5 miles a day I can't get it over 74. Vision issues, tinnitus, cold feet and hands, dizzy episodes, tiredness, etc.

Here in Canada beta blockers are very common.

Yes indeed all thanks to Bisoprolol beta blocker. Best check you are not pre-diabetic too !

Thanks. It seems ablation is not an option for me due to other heart issues - not sure which. Confusing at best
