February 1 I went into the hospital for a fast heart rate and slight shortness of breath. Ive felt this way in the past but it went away very quickly., not knowing what it was. This time the intensity and longevity were much worse. I am diagnosed with AF and aortic arch aneurysm. Today is the second day that Ive felt human since starting this new path of living. Metoprolol er succene 25mg along with eliquis 5 mg twice a day. This mess has my head swimming and absolutely no energy for weeks. Have my first cardiologist appointment this Friday. Starting on this path, Ive figured out a few things rather quickly- dont take what you have for granted, family and friends are all that matters besides good health. The rest is window dressing. Slow down, itll still be there tomorrow. BREATHE! Find something that makes you laugh every day. Thank you all for letting me vent. Im glad this group is here. Bless each one of yall.

Hi

I hope you have a 24ht Heart Monitor on METAPOLOL.

After 1 year 5 mths I got one through Heart Specialist. H/Rate Day 186 counldn't exert. Sweating etc. Fatigued. Pauses at Night on 47bpm.

Changed to Bisopolol through public H/Specialist.. 24hr H.Monitor 2 weeks later 156bpm Day. No pauses no breathless. Better for AFers.

But BBs didn't bring down my H/Rate.

At 2 years 3 months saw a private recommended put me on CCB Calcium Channel Blocker. Wow my H/rate in 2 yes two hours on 1/2 dose from 156 as still on Bisoprolol to 51.

So CCB Diltiazem reduced to 120mg CD early morning.

Been on above now 3 years 2 months much improved with 2.5mg Bisoprolol.

In December dropped down carefully to 1.25 Bisoprolol and then stopped.

This brought up H/R from 60s to 80s Day and BP up 135/80s. Normal low H/R Night 47 avge.

This is my journey.

Diagnosed in Sept 2019 from 2am STROKE - Embollic, Rapid & Persistent AF and Thyroid Cancer as the Carotid Arteries scan showed a shadow on my Thyroid.

No Stroke or Heart follow uo! Disgraceful. Put on Metopolol when I said NO it will make me breathless. An Endocrinologist Dr on the Stroke Ward - 4 Beds, prescribed me 3 x 23,75mg daily. I changed it to 23.75 x 3 times a day.

I struggled with exertion and sweating profusely. And fatigue in a big way but no pain, palpatations etc.

Find a heart specialist who cares. Meanwhile I lost 3kg and a further 3kg. It helps.

HI

GREAT. IT will give you and the specialist a true report of your day and night your med has on you.

It will be good yo have your update and what changes will be made forward.

The advice is that the specialist should be with you to follow through. Especially to make sure everybody is happy.
