I went into AF on January 17th. Went to A&E, they referred me to Cardiology but I was told there's a 24 week wait.I saw a cardiologist privately and he arranged a cardioversion for me.
I had the cardioversion yesterday. It restored sinus rhythm but only lasted 7 hours.
What happens next? Can I have another?

Yes but nothing is without risk. Apart from the anticoagulant you doubtless are on already they may try you on amiodarone for a month or two prior to another DCCV (Cardioversion) and a while afterwards to try and maintan NSR.
I am sorry to hear that the cardioversion was not long lasting. Please do reach out to your Cardiologist as they have full access to your medical records and will be able to advise you personally.
I would also like to direct you to our Cardioversion of Atrial Fibrillation booklet in which there is supportive information that I hope you find helpful:

I have been on Amiadarone for a year now. It has had some unpleasant side effects but on the positive side has so far prevented my AF from reoccurring. I started on the Amiadarone immediately after my cardioversion. I would certainly ask your cardiologist if it might help you.
