Pain after cardioversion

cardioversion done last week still in rhythm but having problems with pain in lower chest and upper abdomen when walking. Calms down when I sit down. Went to A&E during the week and they could not find anything wrong. Advise me to attend my cardiologist appointment this week. Has anyone had anything similar.

I've had lots of cardioversions and have never experienced what you describe. I wonder if you could have a strained muscle? Does it feel like that or is it more severe? Have you spoken to your AF nurse?

It doesn't appear that other forum members on this site have experienced anything similar. What day this week is your appointment with your cardiologist, because that's who you really need to answer your question, not members like me having a guess?

Best wishes

Jean

Hi jean You said that you’ve had many cardio versions

What kind of results of you head and how much time in between do you have to wait to get the next one

I had one and it worked for about two days and I was wondering if I should have another one

I have a fib all the time continuously but I have no symptoms

Thanks

Rudy

Hi Rudy

Some of my cardioversions have lasted years, some days, and some weeks but the last one I had was just one day. It was probably my fault because I was invited to a picnic in the garden of the National trust property where I'm a guide. One of the gardeners came along and asked who'd like a tour of the gardens. Well silly me, rushed forward forgetting how hilly it is. Walked to the bottom of the garden and then started climbing up a path. I soon knew I was back in AF!!

So my message to anyone would be not to put any strain on the heart until it was well and truly established in sinus rhythm.

does your dr tell you how long to take it easy after CV?

I don't recall getting that info

I don't think I had any advice other than not to sign any documents or drive for a period or time, think it was 24 hours. Someone had to be with me for the next 24hours too.
