Hi, I had a single lead pacemaker installed a couple of months ago which went into the ventricle.I'm now coming up for a node ablation where the atrium and ventricle become one chamber and the heart then becomes fully dependent on the pacemaker. I've been told by the EP team this will cure my AF.
What are other people's experiences please with node ablation. Thank you.

I think it is wrong to say it will cure your AF but it should mean that your ventricle will be PM controlled and therefor your heart rate steady so symptoms such as fatigue. dizzyness etc shoud be gone. The atrium and ventricle are not joined together by the way and fibrillation can still ocurr in the left atrium if it wants to without the uneven heart beat. Some people are still aware of this but overall it is a good solution if rather final.
Ah thank you, I always value your comments. I was given the impression that it would make one chamber. Perhaps it's the layman's explanation. Hopefully I won't get so out of breath or tired.
I had AV node ablation last monday. It was done in the Auxkland hospital in New Zealand.Iam so pleased its done .Im still a little tired but i virtually back to normall. Its going to take me a while i suspect to get my old fitness back but so far i dont have any of my arrythmia probs. By the way i have a dual lead pacemaker. I thought that what everyone with av node ablation needs. Keep us intouch and all the best. Colin in NZ
