Fuzzy Wellue traces

Had my Wellue for over a year now and normally the traces are pretty good except for when I am moving "too much". Last couple of times (using sticky electrodes in the recommended pectoral position) it has taken several minutes after putting it on to get the starting buzz, then for the pulse to be picked up steadily (flashing green light). After that the traces are fuzzy right the way through the first few hours unless I am absolutely still, then they settle down a bit. First time I thought perhaps the skin was a bit too oily, or my shaving wasn't good enough, so next time I thoroughly washed and shaved the area really well, then made sure the area was not over-dry, i.e. even a little damp, hopefully to improve conduction. Very little improvement.

I'm about half way through a pack of 3M electrodes, maybe a few months old.

Definitely a contact/conduction issue of some sort. Do the unused electrodes dry out, perhaps? Any ideas welcome, thanks in advance.

Nature of the beast. Even 12-leads at the doctors often have to be taken again because of incomplete contact. Same with my six lead at cardiac rehab. Just have to readjust placement, add pressure, switch out electrodes, etc, until you get a good trace.

I wonder whether the Wellue "press stud" type attachment is sound enough. I have felt the same about mine, Cliff, and I am beginning to get my doubts about this design aspect of an otherwise excellent product.

Thanks. I will check closely, though the 3M pads use the same press stud, maybe the clamp is failing? The chest strap doesn't suffer this problem, though, and it uses press studs.

That’s interesting - I don’t use mine much these days but I’ve had AF (80-130bpm - not too bad) for the past three hours so I’ll give it a go now.
