I have parox AF and had an ablation 7 months ago which worked for about 3 weeks and I’m awaiting a 2nd ablation. I also have relatively low blood pressure. My cardiologist said they are not linked. I’ve started increasingly experiencing dizziness - which comes and goes for an hour or 2, during which I can do nothing for fear of fainting. Does anyone else have experience of this and what the cause / treatment could be please ? Thank you for any experiences or advice you can share🤞

lighted headed / dizziness

It could be nothing to do with your heart, could be a firm of vertigo which I have had in the past. No earache, but a problem with the inner ear, hence dizziness. You can have medication for it. It can last from a few days or weeks. Is it following a pattern,? I.e when standing up,bending down turning quickly etc?
Is it happening when you have AF or prior/ afterwards?
Try and keep a note to try to pin it down .
Best wishes ❤️
Thanks for your comments. I do suffer from dizziness if I stand up quickly. The only pattern I have noticed is that it seems to be in the morning after I’ve had breakfast so I was wondering if it was blood sugar related. I’ve not managed to link it to AF (to be honest I’m not always sure whether I’m in AF or not as I had it for some time without knowing and the effects of it are variable. I’m going to go see my GP again and will ask about the possibility of vertigo. 👍
I suffered with dizziness before I had my ablation.strange feeling like I was going to faint. This started about a month after pulmonary embolismed were found which may have been the cause of my afib.I did faint once and it progressed for me more from then.I had SVT and other bits going on.Had ablation 55 days ago and there's no dizziness anymore.Im 53 and was physically fit. This is what happened to me we are all different.Kind Regards Andrew
I would suggest that you ask your cardiologist to refer you for a Tilt Table Test. This may possibly give you the answers you are looking for.
both coincidentally my husband snd I kept having light headed and dizziness and in hubby’s case actual fainting. It was due to heart rate going too slowly at times. We both had pacemakers fitted (a simple 20 treatment) and thankfully no more fainting. I do very very occasionally feeling a little light headed but nothing worrying and definitely hardly ever
Good luck
Thank you. Does having a pacemaker have any side effects or stop you doing anything you could previously do ?
Not at all as far as I’m aware. A couple of things are to do with those new electric ceramic hobs (my brain gone blank at the moment) to keep away from them if possible , but a friend of ours has one and she keeps cooking with it, but stands back arms length but forgets most of the time Also going through the scanners at the airport. Show the card and possibly if necessary they do a manual search. For 6-10 weeks after input to avoid stretching left arm up in case dislodging leads until they’ve settled in but unlikely. Oh and not to put mobile phone on top left hand pocket.
To be honest trevor snd I have found that it hasn’t stopped us doing anything. Just felt better.
You mentioned low blood pressure - dizziness and feeling faint can be a symptom of that - can be due to low blood pressure meds also - check that out with GP
Also my two symptoms of AFIB were severe dizziness and feeling I was going to faint...didn't have them once Normal Sinus Rhythm was restored in my case two years ago via cardioversion...you can tell if you are in AFIB by using Kardia Mobile device at home
Best of luck
Just to say I started experiencing dizziness and feeling faint and was diagnosed with AFIB. Those were my two main symptoms of AFIB - in fact my only ones - dizziness and a feeling I was going to faint. I had a cardioversion subsequent to diagnosis and have been in NSR for two years now. When/if I go out of NSR I hope I'm a candidate for an ablation as feeling faint and dizzy interfered with daily living.
I'm not saying your fainting or dizziness were symptoms of AFIB - but they were mine.
Best of luck.
