Blue/Black lobe - any experience?

I returned from a 45 minute walk in the cold yesterday and in the evening I noted my ear lobe had a blue/black patch which has not gone overnight.

Although my circulation is generally not brilliant, never has this before, maybe not helped by starting anticoags and daily AF, both within the last 12 months?

I tried to improve it in a hot bath and slept with a cover. Any experience, suggestions or recommendations, is a GP appointment appropriate?

( 2 yrs ago my little finger also went completely blue when sat in the cold without gloves due to it mending from a broken vein playing basketball some months earlier. However that returned to normal when heated up in the car.)

Apologies if this is something and nothing, my mind starts with the worst frostbite!! At least a message for everyone to wrap up well in a cold spell.

I would suggest that you see you GP as soon as possible.

Visited our excellent local Community hospital for minor injuries yesterday. I was told it was bruising which can very easily occur by just brushing the lower part of the ear (where most of the blood vessels are) when on anti-coags. Later I guessed it might have occurred when I fell asleep with ear plugs in listening to the radio 🤔 and squashed the lobe.

The test for frostbite was if you have lost sensation to the touch. Answer: No phew!

The moral, as I am still getting used to anticoags, is accept there is a downside to every pill.

Always risks and benefits but as long as the benefits outweigh the risks…..

Very glad you’re ok and the earplugs would explain the bruising!
