hi , I’ve been on bisoprolol for 11 month , together with Flecainide and apixaban with no problems, however when I picked up my last prescription from the chemist I noticed that the manufacturer of the bisoprolol had changed ,from Alamy to Noumed , thought nothing of it at the time , however I now have problems sleeping which my Apple Watch tracked back to the day i started on the Noumed tablets , is this pure coincidence or has anyone else had a similar experience

Hi Skip. Peronally I won't have thought it would make any difference - however I am not a medic. May I suggest you contact ypur pharmacist and speak to them about the matter,

Happy Yule.

Thanks Paul , I spoke to pharmacist, again she did not think it would make any difference hence I put the question out there .

Hi Skip. I think that's good news. There are generic supplies of all drugs out there. They are all the same. Drug companies get about a 20-year patient then the price drops big time.

Cheers Paul

I have issues with the non active ingredients rather than the actual drug ingredient of any medications I am prescribed. I have to check every time there is a change.

Hi Skip, I'd look at all the ingredients, the fillers in these drugs are a different. Ask your doctor to stipulate the make of tablets you were getting and "tell" the chemist it's got to be these ones.

It's to much of a coincidence it's terraced back to that same time as the brand was changed.

I'm sure the chemist will be fine sourcing the same tablets.

Have a great Christmas and 2024 when it comes

Thanks, I hadn’t paid too much attention to the ingredients, as you say the filler could be different . I’d been advised by the pharmacist to ask the doctor on the next prescription to stipulate the make.

Hi....TBH I would say that had a similar type query. Also have taken Bisoprolol for around 3yrs now. Not sure of manufacture of previous tablet, but around 8 weeks ago, the tablet changed to a Heart shaped tablet NOUMED is Manufacture, from normal one, since then i genuinely felt there was a slight difference, sleep has definitely been a little poorer (but could also be related to other issues on my mind recently) I did query regarding change of tablet, quote was %of some of the ingredients may slightly differ but shouldn't effect the Strength? However I am not so sure, definitely feel that Heart shaped ones which i have now checked and NOUMED is manufacture. I did have an AF episode resulting in a Cardiovers early Nov, just few weeks after starting the NOUMED tablets....Defo think their is something in this...

Thanks Bobby, as mrdarcy1 said it could be related to the filler ingredient used by the manufacturer.

I was given the heart shaped Bisoprolol when first diagnosed in hospital. in hospital. The prescriptions at home gave me plain yellow tablets until the last one. I now have the heart shaped ones but have found no difference.

I would say it is Riley a coincidence as generic drugs are manufactured to identical formulae and undergo rigorous quality control. It is possible, perhaps, that you might have a rogue batch of tablets that have been over pressed and are not releasing their active ingredient in time. That is the most common issue with tableting, I believe.

I had worries that my new bisoprolol was giving me nasal congestion, but I decided in the end that it was a cold. Seems to be ok now,

The fillers and coatings can differ slightly between brands, Anyway, I have been given yet another new generic brand for my 1.25mg tablets now, and another new generic apixaban too. Started with Eliquis, but this is the third generic apixaban. They always look the same, and I mutter about them having to be pink as my gut isn’t keen on iron oxides!

Hi, have not noticed myself but as others have said it could be the fillers etc. I say this because of my experience with breast cancer drug (letrazole). I've been ok with different brands but lots of ladies have problems when the manufacturer changes which happens a lot with that drug. Some people seem to have sensitivities to some of the inactive ingredients. Might be worth asking the pharmacist or GP to put a note on your prescription stating to only have a certain brand. Good luck

Not had issues with Bisoprolol but I have with manufacturer changes of Apixaban. For 4 years I was on Eliquis, in the last 6 months I've had 3 different makes which have caused stomach problems.

Hi

My Bisoprolol packaging has been changed.

The pills are the same. I asked chemist and she said "just the delivering packaging" otherwise they are the same. Different lettering on the foil.

Basically the grey 2.5mg are the same.

My 2.5mg Bisoprolo changes from one month to the next. Currently on the heart shaped ones. Not noticing a difference. Surely the amount of filler is going to be tiny. It would be similar to a single granule of coffee. Would that keep you awake? I suppose I'm going to get a lot of "yes" replies but really?

Are you certain it's a change of manufacturer and not just distributor? I have real problems with generic brands as they use different fillers and colourings but a few times I've found that although the packet is different the manufacturer remains the same. They are just packed by a different firm. Look at the tiny small print on the pack. When I was on furosemide there were three "brands" I could cope with all made by the same company but packed under different names. Other brands I couldn't t olerate at all.

I had a different drug a few years ago, and when the new manufacturer became involved I had unpleasant side effects. Long story short...it turned out to be something in the coating that my body didn't like at all. I was put on a liquid version of the same drug, no issues, back to the tablets, same side effects. I stayed on the liquid! Case proved. :-)

I don’t know about that particular med. but I take letrazole for a different issue and they gave me a different brand once I couldn’t tolerate it. Funny some people can’t tolerate the only brand I can 🤷‍♀️
