Once when in hospital my BP went low and I was told by a nurse to drink some water to bring it up. It worked, so give it a try. Jean

With all due respect I think your anxiety is taking you where you don't need to be.BP too low is due to dehydration in most cases,I've been there myself.

AF can be difficult to get our heads around but it is not life limiting.

Perhaps talk to GP about your feelings?

Yes i know this can be true but yesterday i was at work just chatting to colleagues having a really nice day the i got this pressure in my head and felt very light headed . So not sure that was down to anxiety. Came home drank 2 bottles of water had something to eat but had a really strange fuzzy head

I wonder whether drinking a lot of water is ever a good idea, and especially for people with arrhythmias. It can easily bloat the stomach and that can cause mild pressure on the heart via the diaphragm. This is known to be sufficient in some people to spark off ectopic beats (PACs), which can then lead to AF. Even the act of swallowing can do this as the food pipe (oesophagus) in some presses directly against the heart.

Do you measure your BP to show it has dropped? While in AF, measuring BP won't produce accurate results, by the way.

I agree with your theory of drinking too much water and the effect on the oesophagus. It has, at times, given me acid indigestion. It can also deplete essential electrolytes. I have low blood pressure and despite keeping hydrated, it still remains low. It is important to keep hydrated, but the best cure for me is gentle excercise.

I'm on your side completely. Coming from a pharmaceutical marketing background, I dislike medicalising everyday life, too, so even the word "hydrated" irks me as I believe it began life in a marketing department of a famous bottled water company!

LOL. You have some wonderful theories, which are very often true. It’s always an asset to have a suspicious mind, because trust in most things is dwindling away. You can’t even rely on a packet of biscuits being the same size as when you last bought them. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

When I have AF episodes I now check my blood pressure and skip my bp medication until it goes up to normal levels. Yes I drink t o hydrate myself again too but missing my bp medication has meant that on most occasions I miss the fainting when t he AF is happening.

I would just comment that drinking 2 bottles water all at once is not a good idea. Sipping water throughout the day however is important. If you drink too much at once you may also deplete electrolytes, better to drink something with electrolytes in.

take a deep breath if you’re looking for perfection, there is no magic wand. The hot weather causes my blood pressure to drop as to other things. Everything is not just your heart. It’s your whole body working together. Talk to your doctor about your meds. It’s going to take time for everything to regulate if you find it dangerous as far as dizzy make sure you reach out to your doctor ASAP. Even now with my pacemaker, etc. if I bend over and other things I get dizzy nothing is perfect, especially as we age.

I know I did the same thing in the beginning actually longer than just the beginning until I had a doctor that helped me understand so I was no longer afraid. You are find all kinds of emotions are a big player that as and if you haven’t found some of your triggers, for me. It’s really cold such as ice cream or a cold cold drink my anxiety is like rocket fuel for palpitations even now, but they settle down when I do. The one most important thing I have learned is a fib is not in charge I am. Oh sure it’s gonna make you feel lousy. It’s gonna make you nervous. It’s not going to kill you and if you let it run your life, it will. I have a pacemaker now best thing ever because other things did not work for me among other things was my tachycardia. I am going to be on meds, the rest of my life metoprolol being one of them and my anticoagulant right now Xarelto it’s no different than being a diabetic when you need meds for that. Just because your blood sugar goes lower doesn’t mean you stop your meds unless your doctor says so you are still a diabetic with or without high numbers you are going to be prone to things.

I have found the best help for myself is to stop over analyzing everything you have a doctor for a reason especially an EP

It’s good to check with others say hey have you ever felt this but they are not you. We do not have your medical record records and even if we did wouldn’t understand them because we didn’t go to school all those years. Unless you have a blithering idiot for a doctor you have to put faith in them. If you are that unhappy, find another one, but I trust my doctor. I had one I did not and I waited too long to reach out for a new one. That was my one biggest mistake. Because of that I went into heart failure I am a procrastinator very bad about going to the doctor and ER not for any reason I just am. You know you always think oh I’ll be fine in an hour unfortunately I was so weak and sick. I wasn’t thinking straight. I could not stand up without tears and crushing pain and I really couldn’t stand up or walk only scuffle. The other things are not that big even with a pacemaker I can my the difference when you have an is that nothing is going to hurt your heart because your pacemaker is the only thing in charge at that point

Best of luck be good to yourself. Take a deep breath. One of the first things my EP said was stop taking my numbers. I understand your doctor having you send him what you had that is for reference because I know it’s not always easy getting in to see them. I am very blessed because where I am all I have to do is make a call. Odds are pretty good. I’ll be in there within an hours or sent directly to the ER.

the hardest thing about a is I worked law enforcement. I’m used to being in charge, but you know what a fibmy heart could care less. One smart thing my EP told me is don’t blame everything on your heart either because we have so many parts that can act up just like a car. Everything isn’t the engine you could simply be out of gas lol

unfortunately I have found I no longer have the energy and stamina that I did but I have also started to think I’m five years older in my 70s maybe I I’m asking for too much. Oh there are super people out there running marathons their 90s I am not one of those people. I can take my dog out. I can walk around the house. I can do laundry and dishes something I could not do before the pacemaker. All I could do was sit there like a lump. Not recommending pacemaker and AV node. I am not a doctor, but there are things to make you feel better. The biggest thing is learning knowledge is power. I think finding the things not to be scared of when I feel things has been the biggest help. If you have someone around you, it doesn’t hurt to educate them somewhat on things to watch that you might do and not realize. This past summer I had one of the worst times I was a comedy of errors, but it wasn’t funny. It was 110°F. I did not eat right that day or drink right I sat in the hot car too long and we went to an exceptionally yummy lunch and I ate everything over eating is my enemy guaranteed. I will get flutter before I get back in the car.My cousin did not pay attention to me. Luckily I did. because when I get like this, I usually will black out and hit the ground. I’m not gonna die, but let’s face it blacking out and falling down is not good.

when I write things, I have a little touch of humor in them just so you know. law enforcement tends to have a strange sense of humor. You can’t fix everything sometimes it’s just irony what you’re feeling when it’s not cardiac arrest chances are pretty good. You’re gonna be OK shortly except for being uncomfortable. There’s no right or wrong. We are all different.

🙏🏻💗.
