Does anyone know if a Kardia one-lead picks up fibrillatory waves during AF? I get occasional 'possible AF' readings, but my trace never seems to show fibrillatory waves and the P wave is still discernable too. This makes me think that my SA node is still functioning and the 'possible AF' is just clusters of atrial ectopics. If anyone has an example of a confirmed AF trace they have captured on Kardia, I would be very grateful if I could see it.
Oh, I fully intend to show my cardiologist (appointment in December) the 'AF' Kardia readings I have. I like to do my own investigation work but I will always get a clinical diagnosis.

I just checked and drdave is not longer a member. He was incredibly helpful in the early days.
I had a heap of traces of confirmed Af from the early days 2013-2015 but just checked and they now show No Analysis despite I have old paper copies saying Atrial Fibrillation and on my trace it is clearly Atrial Fibrillation as shows the F waves, ectopics, Tachycardia and long QRS. Having looked at the Kardia sit it now appears this is only available in Advanced Determination which is a paid for subscription as explained kardia.com/blog/advanced-de...
Then I checked back on my traces and saw that I have the Advanced Determination App from about 2021. This is because I was one of the very early users of the device from 2013 when still in trial so was gifted. I understand now that the Advanced Determination is now a paid for service. I looked back through my history in 2013-2015 - when I had the very early original device and an old phone and although the ECG trace clearly shows AF - and I remember having it confirmed by my EP who was part of the Kardia trial in the UK - the trace now shows No Analysis. The Advanced Determination Feature kicked in spring 2021 and from that time on I have had much more advanced analysis.
I changed to a 6L device in 2020, although rarely use the 6L function, when my old Kardia - the original iPhone cover version - literally fell apart after about 7 years of use.
I think what I have learned from trying to get to grips with your original question and looking back through my history on my app is that algorithim used in the Advanced Determination Feature is very different and advanced - hence you pay for it. So in conclusion - it’s the app used, not the device which matters.
I’ll try post an early and a later trace so that you can see the difference but may take me a while to organise as can’t do it from this iPad as I don’t have the app on here and have to go to an old phone.
Not sure what you mean by fibrillatory waves? I have found that recordings vary very much from person to person. It is no use posting mine because they are weird at the best of times but during AF the line is pretty flat.
John, My Kardia says the same. Can you tell when you're in afib? I really don't have any symptoms myself. It feels like I have maybe a skipped beat but that's about it. My heart rate hasn't gone over 100.
