Does verapamil help PAF and ectopics

Looking for advice, experience and support from you lovely people. Diagnosed with PAF recently having had a dozen or so attacks over 7 months (longest was about 20 minutes). Also have frequent ectopics - often 100 plus an hour and short bursts of SVTs (it's the SVTs which tend to set off the AFib) despite being on Bisoprolol 2.5mg and edoxaban. Cardiologist suggests I try Verapamil but hasn't told me how to switch! I am just trying reducing Bisoprolol to 1.25 but AFib episodes have increased.Anyone on here find Verapamil works well for AFib, ectopics and or SVTs. Also does it work immediately or does it take time. Thank you

Hi

When my private heart specialist introduced another CCB Ditiazem in 2 hours 1/2 dose took my heart rate down from 156 to 51 in 2 hours! It was reduced immediately to 120CD.

Be careful.

Also separate them AM Ver.. Bisoprolol PM.

Not sure what your H.Rate is and BP.

And I take 2.5mg Bisoprolol PM but 2 weeks ago I had low BP so now on 1.25mg.

Monitor carefully at introduction and in 2 weeks have an ECG and 24hr heart monitor.

Does verapamil help PAF? For me it didn't help.

Verapamil was the first med prescribed by my electrophysiologist (120 mg) for my paroxysmal AFib. Went back to the EP and armed with some good advice from this site, got on flecainide (100 mg/day). That definitely worked well for a while but eventually those good results started to fade so recently had to increase to 150 mg/day. So far that dosage seems to be working well, but time will tell.

We are all so different in how we respond to drugs and it all takes time trying out different medications when you just want to get sorted! Thanks for the input.
