I had PF ablation at the end of May for paroxysmal afib that had suddenly ramped up in frequency and duration. Since ablation it hasn’t been plain sailing as I’ve had episodes of a flutter, many, many ectopics and occasionally still some short durations of afib, but it is considerably better that before my ablation. I remain on bisoprolol 5mg but have been able to stop my apixaban as chads score 1 now .
Now you know a little of my history, here’s my question… I would like to undergo a procedure for scar revision which involves going deep under my skin, tissue etc and this would be done with quite a lot of local anaesthetic. As I still have occasional afib with fast heart rate, I emailed my consultant to ask if I’m ok having local anaesthetic and also any contraindications with it and taking Bisoprolol which my dentist had said there could be 🤔 I have received a return email saying no problem with me having local and no interaction between bisoprolol and local either .. so, any of my fellow afibbers I’m would like to know if any of you have had local for small ‘skin’ ops and been fine and has anyone had it while on bisoprolol? It’s not that I don’t trust my consultant, it’s I’d just like to hear of fellow afib suffers experience.. thanks ☺️

The general advice we give is to ask for the non adrenaline local anaesthetics as these are less likely to trigger AF. I had a BCC removed a few years ago with no problems though not on bisoproloI can't see that there is any contra indication.
I am confused by your claim you have stopped anticoagulation "because your chads score is now 1" . You do know that once given a score can't be removed I hope. Chads scores are for life for example high blood pressure counts one even if well controlled.
Thanks for that . Should have put that I have a chads score of 1, not that I now have which implies it had changed . I was only put on apixaban in readiness for my op and then for the blanking period afterwards. I’m chads score of 1 for being female, and because of my age (58) the risk of a bleed from an AC outweighed the benefits my consultant decided . I will however be back on an AC if I need another ablation or when I reach 65 ..something to look forward to!
Bisoprolol as pill in the pocket and Rivaroxaban where I've had locals for BCC removals and dental work without issues. Now on Sotolol daily and just had two more BCC's removed at the same time with local anesthetic, again without issue - neither did they induce any sort of AF.
