Following my former query re: weekly near fainting fits a friend encouraged me to get an appointment with the doctor, even though I didn’t think it was possible as appointments are usually booked in first thing in the morning. I thought at least my symptoms might be recorded. The brilliant receptionist did manage to get me an appointment and the equally brilliant doctor referred me to the hospital where I was given a number of tests including another ECG. The result was atrial fibrillation with RVR (rapid ventricular rate). It was the latter, which also affects the bottom of the heart that was causing my near fainting (the last one was particularly bad) and the rapid heart rate is linked to this. I have been booked in for a cardioversion. Thank you so much for all the kind replies that I have received regarding my message to Health Unlocked.

So very pleased you have had a good response from your surgery, GP and hospital and you now know what is going on with you. I hope the cardioversion goes wells and you feel better soon. Let us know how things go.
Hi
Still sounds like you need a med/s t control your rapid heart rate.
a cardioversion may give you and your specialist time to decide what to do next if necessary.
Meds, or if ablation can be done if your heart is normal.

Hi I too have 'almost fainting' episodes. I have Flecainide as a pill in the pocket to take when in AF. My last to episodez I've taken a Flecainide and about an hours later fe faint and like Im going to collapse. If I lie down with my feet raised after a while it passes. Fortunately it's happened at home. I've tried for a week to get appointment with Dr Modie who is my EP at LHCH. No answer from secretary..... it's so so difficult. Anyone had with problem. It as if Flecainide its the lowest dose, is too strong.
