Hi all, I have developed an 'ache' in my groin in the exact spot where the chatheters were inserted during my ablation back on March this year. This 'ache' is worse when lying down and is particularly troublesome during the night where it affects my leg right down to my ankle. I can only describe this as like 'toothache' in my leg and I don't know how to get comfortable. It tends to disappear during the day and then comes back when I sit down at night I have recently come back from Cyprus where I spent a lot of time lying on uncomfortable sunbeds and thought originally this might be the cause, coupled with sitting on a plane for 5 hours.
I was wondering if it could in some way be related to the catheter site but my doctor says it's been too long. He seems baffled but sent me for an x-ray on my hip.
Thoughts please? Has anyone had any problems near the catheter site months after the procedure?

Too easy to pass everything off as arthritis, relevant investigation should be done. I had this when I needed a partial replacement knee, went on for years.
Well, all I can say is that I put my similar pain and aches there ,right leg ,due to ending up with 6 (!).attempts to insert catheter fir my 2022 ablation. Eventually successful. I kind of thought it was perhaps.some nerve damage.
However, 3 weeks ago I saw a neurologist at my GP surgery for back pain ,after our /examination discussions on that, he added, what's wrong with your right hip?
Oh nothing I said, too much pole dancing haha!.( no sense of humour some people!)
Classic symptoms of Osteoarthritis he said.
Next thing I knew,he's tapping out a referral!
Letter received yesterday for Xray at the Meriden private hospital,in the grounds of Walsgrave NHS.my second home, this coming Friday.
I think I'd explore that possibility out if I were you.
any hole in your skin takes a very long time to heal. I punctured a hole in my skin with an open door of a dishwasher and my leg ached for a few years!!
Interesting. I had an ablation end of February. For me rather different is I’ve had an inguinal hernia on the same side and in 12/2021 had an emergency Femoral hernia on the same side. The ablation was as said end of February. I am now having jabbing pain in the right groin and sadly also in the left. I just had an MRI yesterday on pelvic area to see what’s going on, privately of course, I’d never get it otherwise. I will see the consultant next Tuesday. Interestingly or not, I’m trying to find out for sure if MESH was inserted in the right groin, it can have dire side effects. Thats another story
Very interesting. I am convinced it's something to do with the entry site of the catheters it's in the exact spot and it travels down my leg. My GP doesn't think so but we shall see what the X ray results are. I am seeing my EP (privately of course otherwise I wouldn't be followed up) so I will mention it to him.Let me know how you get on please ❤️
I’m seeing a consultant in abdominal surgery etc I had a massive jabbing twanging sensation this lunchtime in my right, gawd it was bad, never had it before and worried I might not be able to walk. I was only dressing after swimming. It went off and oddly was ok. Obviously I’m going to say to my consultant Tuesday
Seen consultant, he was excellent and I had near an hour talking to him about it. As I have said, I have a lot of issues that can confuse what’s going on. 1) he is sure I have no mesh👍🏻 I specifically asked about the catheter in the aortic vein and he said it is rare but possible to have a false aneurysm, YOU have to go to your DR/Specialist to investigate this, I am NOT a qualified medical practitioner, just saying what my consultant said. He doesn’t think I have this but is referring the question to the radiographer I think who read the MRI.
I have a little arthritis, degeneration between joints 🙄 ya ya…….. so he’s referring me to a pain specialist who apparently can sort me out and another therapist for my ‘stuff’.
SO the message here IS ‘go back to your GP/specialist
Hi, have a similar thing but down my right arm and aches worse lying down makes sleeping difficult. Seems like it might be caused by a trapped nerve in my neck. So possibilty you could have similar cause a trapped nerve, possibly in your back, but vget it checked out.
