About 1 in 3 people experience an AF-related stroke without anticoagulation therapy.

This important statistic, shared as part of Global AF Aware Week, underscores the critical role of the ‘Detect’ and ‘Protect’ pillars of AF care:

DETECT: A simple pulse check can identify irregularities. Learn more here: loom.ly/qoAsmk4.

PROTECT: Follow your medical professional’s advice to protect against AF-related stroke. Access our fact sheet here: loom.ly/gb83C0I.

Remember, AF is not a death sentence. While it increases stroke risk, it can be managed with the right treatment. We are here for support whenever you need it - explore our resources and connect with our Patient Services team at loom.ly/YTC2T4Q.

Is that right - 1 in 3 of everyone who has AF who isn’t on anticoagulants? Does that include people with undiagnosed AF ? My cardiologist didn’t seem to think I needed thinners.

It doesn't even say that, it says that 1 in 3 people have an AF-related stroke without AC!

Which is nonsense.

Hi mugsy , why do you say this is nonsense, please elaborate.

Well for a start only about 2.5% of people have AF! So how can a gigantic 33% of people have an AF-related stroke?

But is it not saying that its 33 percent of the 2.5 percent, or is my head not my own today.

Well you've read the same statement as me.: "About 1 in 3 people suffer an AF-related stroke without anti-coagulation therapy."

No ambiguity there.

Yes, I’d think it would include those who are not diagnosed. I recall when my husband was first diagnosed with AF, his cardiologist said a similar thing.

“About 1 in 3 people experience an AF-related stroke without anticoagulation therapy.”

I think you should revise this. As written, it is not true.
