Haven't used my Kardia in a few weeks as had visitors but usually check everything after relaxing before lunch on a Saturday or Sunday. Decided to do BP this morning - I must have relaxed a lot because a few low readings but OK. My wife checked hers but she is usually higher but OK this morning but the monitor showed AF. Decided she should try Kardia before me but it showed low battery and kept going to the home page and saying how to use it, waited until it said wait for connection it then showed connected and said to place fingers on the Kardia and then nothing. Turned the TV etc off as sometimes other electrical things can interfere. I have contacted them don't know if I will get a reply. Can you get a new battery if so does anyone know from where and how?
Wife did another BP reading and it didn't show AF the cuff was on correctly as we have a light that comes on on the monitor to show this and she always moves it to 2 nd patient as I am, of course no. 1. Two of my readings showed no AF as they did for a few days after I fell the other week. As I am in permanent AF I sometimes wonder if I have paroxysmal NSR
Also had a few problems whilst using this website earlier so wonder if an "iffy" internet connection would affect the blue tooth connection I am so out of touch with all these things now but I suppose it must?
Am quaking in my shoes as I am a Yorkshire man born and bred and don't want to buy another Kardia as at my age - nearly 81, don't think I would get the use out of it and have just had to buy a new garden gate and got fleeced (along with a couple of other neighbours by charming people from the Emerald Isle who cleaned my front drive a week or so ago. Everyone thought another neighbour had booked them to clean their drives, roofs and whatever. It took us more time to clean up after them than it would have for me to clean it myself! It was getting dark and starting to rain so couldn't follow them around to check but they pressure washed dirt and water under the garage door. Just glad I didn't say they could do the back and paths at the side. Our pressure washer refused to work properly so a few weeks ago did part of the patio using a cleaner and stiff brush and still to finish it off as we either have torrential rain or its too hot to work for more than a couple of hours in the morning and always seem to have an appointment on the days that would be good for doing this sort of thing. Thought it was a good idea for them to do the front to make it look presentable. Especially as every time I went out they tackled me about it and then rang the bell twice to make sure they could wear me down and agree to them doing something. Next time I will set the wife on them - in the end she did come out and politely said no we'll just have the front done.
Anyway enjoy your weekend everyone. We will be cleaning the back patio tomorrow as cutting the grass this afternoon.

Hello Desanthony. I don’t have a Kardia as for me it wouldn’t be good. I am sure someone will come along and help you. I just have a blood pressure monitor which tells me all l need to know (being an anxious person). I have low blood pressure and l always make sure l am well hydrated. If you feel ok then it is not a problem. It is a normal reading for some, but just keep an eye. Sorry you have been fleeced by these travelling repair folks. I have heard lots of similar stories. It seems to be happening all the time. It must have caused you much stress, so look after yourself. I had trouble with HU this morning, but it seems to be ok now. Probably their end. You have a quiet, peaceful day and recuperate. Take care.
Thanks all sorted now as far as Kardia concerned - easy(ish) for someone else with better eyesight to do .
The pressure washing people didn't stress me that much just the difference in prices they were charging 3 of my other neighbours and me which I didn't learn about until a couple of days later We didn't catch up with them due to it getting dark and raining, we were away the next day and then we all congregated outside in the sunshine the day after and complained about them - gave us something to talk about. Those who had had their roofs cleaned had had to re-attach guttering and despite having what looked like fairly good long reach equipment they did put a 10 year old boy up on one roof as we saw when closing our blinds later. One neighbour had actually checked them out online and they seemed legit with a local number but sure they weren't - even spelling mistake on side of vans and two different business names on the two vans. Probably stuck a different number on the side for each area they visit. To be honest the price charged was probably about right - going to check as our window cleaners offer a similar service but had not seen them for over 2 months - though as luck would have it they turned up the following day when we were out - lucky because the others had sprayed the dirt over the windows. So probably not been fleeced in the sense they charged too much for the service just that the service was bad and had we all been able to see the mess they had made would have complained to them in person and asked for a corresponding drop in the price - maybe that is why they turned up on a cloudy, overcast day at 4.30. Anyway off to cut the grass now its starting to get cooler and sun starting to move to the front so back garden out of direct sunlight.
If like my old one very small cross head screws hold the cover on. Check battery number and go toTimsons or similar. Alternatives take the whole thing down to them as tehy will have watch type screwdrivers.
Yes I feel an idiot now Bob D. My eye sight is so bad - have glaucoma and the wrong type of Macular degeneration couldn't see the small screws. I actually thought because I couldn't see the screws that it was a "slidey" thing keeping the batteries in - obviously not so thought oh heck its a special job and probably takes an expensive battery we have to order and, as we found with new mobile batteries we had for old type mobile phones the new batteries last for a shorter length of time than the original. Anyway, Wife found said screws and useful set of little screw drivers and got battery out and has changed the battery with much swearing and cursing as the teeny screws rolled around on the piece of papers she put underneath - easy enough to get the screws out but to catch them and keep them from disappearing and get back into the screwholes quite difficult apparently - no way I could have done it. Luckily we had the right type battery so all done. Then couldn't log into Kardia - tried what I thought no actually knew were my e mail address and password and it wouldn't let me log in, deleted app and re applied it tried to log in again - these details are already in use - yep I know that, used by me. In the end decided to use forgotten password route, changed password and its all back. Wife doesn't seem to have developed AF according to Kardia but now we have had that reading once on the Omron BP machine will check more regularly on the Kardia. Wish I knew the make of the original Kardia batteries because they have lasted about 7 years as bought when we moved to this new house. Wonder how long the new battery will last? Think I will write the date of change on the back of the Kardia to check - wonder if it will see me out? LOL!
Desanthony you have so many problems and life is so hectic for you right now. but you make me smile. You are a breath of fresh air. Glad you can NOW relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Thanks my wife has done that now. See my explanation to Bob D. Feel a right Wally now but couldn't see the screws (really bad and deteriorating eyesight) which made me worry about type and cost of new battery/batteries or having to buy a new Kardia at my advanced age with strong Yorkshire heritage. LOL! Of course couldn't find paperwork for Kardia which I have put in one of those really safe places so resorted to making a stupid wazock of myself on here.
Thanks for your replies and enjoy the rest of your weekends everyone. Nice weather here and schools go back next week so will be able to get some serious work done in the gym without a teenage darling sitting on the machine I want to use whilst checking their emails, posting pictures of their teenage physique on faceache or checking their hair is still in place using their mobile phones. Of course I am envious as most mobile phone things I have to leave to my wife due to eyesight, age etc. I just use mine to make and receive calls - well barely
Ha ha! No I come from 'Ull. My Mum and Dad used to say that Harrogate was so posh it was the only place in Yorkshire where they sounded their H's I have to say that I have not had Parkin in a long while. Did see some in a shop recently on my way to the dentists and contemplated buying it on the way back around town on the way to the car but it started to rain so just ran back to the car. Wife makes a batch of Brownies every so often and we eat a couple each over the weekend as a special treat, the rest are frozen - so we usually have about 4 weeks worth. Next time I'll get her to make Parkin. Just off to have my Breakfast cup of Yorkshire tea.
Any watch repair place or in my case a shoe repair place that fits batteries did the job. It cost me €10. Two tiny screws that definitely need a tiny screwdriver to get out. It's been going fine since
